View Full Version : A Little WWII with Son#1
Having finished our WWI game, we decided to do something out of the ordinary (for us) and play WWII. I suggested he use the 'Tony' from the boxed set, while I went with something a little earlier, yet one of my favorites - the Flying Tigers P-40.

We started rather close.

And before you know it, I'm getting hammered at short range!

That hurt! I figured I'd give myself some room and lick my wounds.

We then spent some time in a slow, turning chase.

Since he hadn't played in awhile, I thought it only fair to give him a reminder about the "Immelmann." I've noticed a tendency on his part to avoid it, so I wanted to point out its usefulness to him.

That brought us into long range.

And ouch! Game over!

Sometimes they did.
Somtimes you draw only zeros. ;)
Nice little AAR, John.
My girls don't like WW II. The planes are less colorful and the continous maneuvering too exhausting.
Cheers John, it just shows you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can teach a young dog new tricks :guns: and they hurt. Nice little AAR
I'm sitting here looking at my 1:200 New Ray P-38 Lightning and thinking I need revenge. ;)

Congrats to your son, John;) Take it easy, it was just a 2D game. Challenge the youngling in a 3D fight and you shall show your teeth then:)
Indeed. And... I'm quite happy that he won. If it builds his confidence, and gets him interested in playing more, it's a huge plus in my book.
Great AAR John, keep the youngsters coming back for more!!!:clap::thumbsup:

Going face to face with a Tony hurts. A lot. Nice battle report by the way.
Thanks. You know... I knew it was going to hurt, but I didn't know it was going to hurt that much.
I'm curious, what did we throw at them later in the war that put the hurt on the Tony? Corsairs? P-38s?
