Bloody fantastic. Wished I'd seen this before developing the torpedo rules. Still a lot of guestimate but dropping at 235mph from 800' and hitting the target was fantastic. It was like being back in the class room in training, I was glued and attentive throughout. Cheers for this if you have links to anymore like it I would be most appreciative.

A very entertaining and also instructive AAR Neil.
I will try my WWI attack out as soon as I can.

As I was watching the video, they said a 600 foot vessel and I started crunching the numbers. At 1/200 scale that's a 3 foot ship. Hmm, I'm going to need a bigger mat to fly my minis on.

Hi Kermit,

You should bear in mind that although the representative aircraft miniatures are 1/200, ground scale for WGS is about 1/2400-2500. So War at Sea and similar miniatures are fine to use as targets.

Cheers,

Carl

Not yet as I am amending the hull points to fit in with the destroyer bit. I have a card done for the Shokaku Class (2 carriers) and the later Essex class (26 carriers). 3 Z type destroyers (Germany), Hunt, S, Tribal, H and Black Swan already done. Merchant ships large and medium for Japan, US, Britain, Germany also done. I am working on a German merchant raider type. WW1 rules are done and being trialled by Carlos (Calm) and Rob Kyte. Once they are finished I'll start finishing off the WW2 section which will include skip bombing and torpedo attack.

Torpedo rules sorted. The vid link and working out the high explosive weight sorted out the small points. Ship cards (2 carriers + brooklyn class cruiser)about to be posted.

 That was a most interesting & entertaining AAR Neil!
I think you really invented some great rules there.

The torpedo damage was excessive so instead of overall weight divided by 10, I've gone for the HE weight. American torpedos do more damage if they hit but have to use the black dot/red dot to hit, whilst the Japanese torpedo's do less damage count both the black or red dot for hits. Watch this space for mission 5, Akagi down, Midway Rising campaign.

When I finish writing the OTT Mission 5 marathon (2 volumes I think, perhaps 3 to be on the safe side). I'll get round to posting Midway Rising Mission 5: Akagi down.

Can't wait for the next episode Neil.

I found this today it is the USS North Carolina but in the image in the lower left it shows the basic defense formation to protect a U.S. carrier. Worth checking out.

The second image is how U.S. dive bombers attack a Japanese Destroyer.
