Well after some time of complete inactivity I finally found some time to do one of my planned repaints. This time I repainted one of the new Bf110. Thanks to Nightbomber I also found the appropriate decals so none had to be made myself. The plane was first stripped of its original decals and most of the paint and was then painted in dark gray. Afterwards a coat of white acrylic was applied in such way that the grey still shined a bit through. In order to complete that dirty white look I gave it a wash with black enamel paint. Small detail were painted by hand like the exhaust and red ring on the spinners. Added the decals (Shed decals and 144 Direct) afterwards and a final mat coat sealed those in place.

The upper half was actually the only thing I repainted. The bottom part I left in the original color. I only trimmed off the external fuel tanks and changed the letters fromn D to A.

@ Rob: I'm sure you'll catch up in an instant.

Well, these are 1/144 scale. I think the mold was a Chinese unofficial copy of the old Minicraft Me-110. When I bought these, Me-110s were virtually impossible to find in 1/144 scale. I saw these on E-Bay, the brand was MiniHobby, and the cover art was so atrocious that I almost considered not buying them. But there were no other options open to me at the time. I bought them for $5 USD each, with another $5 each for shipping. They must have come from the backwoods of deep interior China, because they took all of an entire month to arrive! I've heard of the slow boat, but come on! LOL!

Molds: Terrible to Un-buildable
Decales: Hideous
Cover art: Criminal

Not other options, so I got to work on them. Took forever, but I was able to make something playable. When I get the right decales (I had zero extra at the time), I plan on re-decaling over the german crosses. In fact, I already have one additional Me-110 I bought in the recent Minicraft re-release, and I need one more. All I want new ones for, is the decales to redo these.

Not great, but considering the molds I had to work with, I was happy with how they turned out.

I was late but true to my promise to them.

The Me-110 may not be the best twin engine fighter, but it has a special place in my heart.

Nearly nine month later, Hauptmann Schneider found out that there is a personalized Bf.110 ready for action in North Africa.

Sorry comrade, this was unfortunately ignored during the troublesome days between Prague Summer Con 2014 and Origins 2014.

An nice gesture and this plane is in good company of Lt. Andrzej's desert Spitfire. :salute:

I prepared another plane for the Prague Summer Con 2015.

It's a Bf.110 G version night fighter.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=158856&d=1425466810

I used an original Ares Games miniature. Without getting rid of the decals I covered the plane with primer and repainted it.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=158855&d=1425466810

The camouflage and the decal combination was randomly choosen. So is the underside painted black. Maybe a little bit unommon for 1943 - 1944 night fighters, but you would be surprised how many Luftwaffe night fighter camouflage schemas there were.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=158854&d=1425466810

I didn't built antennas for the Lichtenstein Gerät like I did for my Ju88 nightfighter. I wanted a playable miniature. :minis:

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=158857&d=1425466810

Here you can see the undetected approach of the Bf.110 G versus a British Lancaster bomber during a night raid. The pilot tries to shot down the 4-engined intruder with his Schräge Musik armament. ( I know - the base of the mini points in the wrong direction)

Hi folks,

Without any twin-engine Soviet planes to purchase, I did up a captured Bf.110. From what I read (or rather, what Google translate reads for me) at this website -
http://lib.rus.ec/b/205944/read
five C variants were bought under Molotov–Ribbentrop, and several G variants were captured from Romania.

186259

186260

186261

And with a slightly tarted-up Yak-1

186262

Markings are somewhat speculative based on the low-quality photos on that website, the style of other Soviet planes from the time, and my personal taste for the late-war roundel and a match with the Yak.

Black Bf 110s are out of place for the game purposes.

For those who enjoy the black version of Bf.110 :

one of the last Do.17 Z-10 in service (night fighter version - 2./NJG2 unit) is shot down by a Beaufighter (25 squadron) on the night of May 7-8 1941, over Carrington (Manchester area).
On the same night (but not in the same place) a Bf.110 (I./SKG 210 unit) is shot down by a Hurricane (87 squadron) over the Channel.

https://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/showthread.php?30160-Special-Pack-3-(Medium-Bombers)-on-the-Way&p=524914#post524914

An idea of a Wings of Glory scenario including three all black miniatures :
The new Dornier Do.17 Z-10 (NJG.2) WGS205B along with a Bf.110 (Radusch) WGS202C, facing the Bristol Beaufighter Mk.IF (Boyd) WGS201A and a Hurricane (WOW or WOG model).
