- "I need a fast git, Meine Herren. A pilot who can penetrate enemy lines, land on a quiet place unseen, get a passenger and return without setting off gongs on the other side. Who is going to volunteer? No not everybody is allowed, chaps. I know you re eager to show your teeth, but not this time. Arnold, you will carry the mission through in spite of possible... difficulties you run up against. Get ready.
- I can not wait, Herr Rittmeister.
Good. You are going to pick up our old friend, a double agent whom we have been working with for over a year now. A professor. A real wolf in sheep's clothing. Heinrich Jenssen, or, better known for the Brits as Henry Jones. Professor Henry Jones. Take a look at this photo and remember: do not be fooled by this innocent face.

- Jawohl, Herr Rittmeister, but how shall we fend off the enemy fighters? Who is going to man the rear gun?
- Trust Herr Jenssen, Arnold. He is a skillful gunner.
...oh, I almost forgot. Our Austrian allies provided us with a new Ufag two seater. I chose you for I know you already had opportunity to fly it before. It's a brand new, fast machine. Take it."

---------------------------------

For the eyes of those of you who did not play the first part of OtT Campaign: Herr Jenssen appeared already in one of the scenarios designed by Watchdog. The Eagles successfully evacuated him from a barn held by some infantrymen. Now he is seeing action again:)

---------------------------------------

Lt. Arnold Gola made a touch down behind an old manor, where the Agent was about to appear. He saw a man waving at him with a blue-green flag in his hand instantly and after a minute Professor Jensen was sitting strapped in the rear chair; "Be not afraid son", he said to Gola. "Take off and run to safety!"
"Yes Sir, but... in case we are intercepted please make use of the rear gun. And do not hole the rudder"

The plane took off...

Here is the scene with Ufag taxing on the left. Dice laid on the mat edges mark the entrance positions of EA.

The enemy Spad is closing, trying to maintain the altitude advantage...
http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87285&d=1366649549

The second Spad appears on the edge of the mat. The difference in height between Ufag and Spad makes shooting impossible.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87286&d=1366649576

The enemies trying to spot the Ufag, but it's excellent camouflage pattern makes it difficult.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87287&d=1366649604

Fourth turn (look at the die).

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87288&d=1366649632

The Spads are diving toward the escaping Ufag, which is gaining altitude...

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87289&d=1366649665

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87290&d=1366649694

Still no shooting and the AI tables would cause a right side slip. I decide to cheat in favor of th enemy and replace the side slip card for a dive.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87291&d=1366649733

Now the planes are in range of each other and the shots are traded. The red tailed Spad is placing it's bullets with moderate success, but Heinrich Jenssen is showing his skills. Lt. Wertheim piloting the red fighter is wounded. Unfortunately Ufag's rear gun is jammed! The other Spad's fire is missing the target.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87292&d=1366649765

The blue Spad pilot has aimed better now and the Ufag controls are damaged.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87293&d=1366649796

It is the sixth turn, but the third Spad does not appear on the scene. Thanks God!

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87294&d=1366649820

It's getting hot. Although Arnold Gola is making evasive maneuvers, the blue Spad is now tailing the two seater and shooting much better. The rudder is jammed for good.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87295&d=1366649848

Now the archie begins to hunt the lone two seater, but the shrapnels fly around just bruising the Ufag.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87296&d=1366649875

The plans and the Agent are delivered safe and sound. Enemy fighters give up and turn back.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=87297&d=1366649906

The bill.

Mission accomplished.:)

The Butchers Tally format at the end:

Lt. Arnold Gola/RTB/0 Victories.
--------------
Lt. Andre Wertheim/RTB/WIA/0 Victories . Rolled 3: severly wounded. Rolled 1: skip 1 scenario. French nurses make wonders;)
S-Lt. Pierre Achard/RTB/0 Victories.

Stay tuned, the second part will follow shortly!

You started on the ground ? That was brave !! Nicely done, we will have to look out for Herr Jones in future ;)
See Wertheim listed & wounded - Who was the second French pilot ? and where's the approved butchers tally format ?! :hmm:

Ha!
1. I really thought we should start taxing...:) I knew I would go off the board quite fast, that's why I positioned the Ufag far to the left, just to have a chance for some adrenaline rush...
2. UUUUps: The second (blue pilot) was: S-Lt. Pierre Achard.

Butcher's Tally Format? I must have missed something, Dave.

I'll make dice rolls for Wertheim in a minute...

BTF - applied. Thanks for the head up, Dave!.

Great little scenario.
I love the way these are all unfolding differently.
Well done for bringing Jones back into the story. I'm sure it is not the last we shall hear of this slippery character.

Thank you so much, Rob:)
To amuse the readers is one of my goals and Henry Jones as a possible rear gunner was a good choice  I love the movie and Sir Connery as well;)

I don't think I can take the suspense from all these missions, each one so different and on the edge of your seat tension all the way through. Excellently played Andy, loved the spotting bit too.

I know this spy, Andrzej.

Same one from mission 7 (Catch Me If You Can!), I think.

The Ufag was a good choice, especially for the fast Spad XIIIs.

Well, done Eagle. :salute:

Very enjoyable AAR. Great tie in with prior mission, and great photo. Congrats on mission accomplished.

I got a feel for altitude effects, and I like how you overrode the AI and did what you thought best for the enemy. :hatsoff:

Nice use of dice as visual aids.
