Has anyone figured out what the damage draw would be for the 11mm Vickers used on some Entente units?

Is there any reason to believe that 1x11mm is equal to 2x7.62mm MGs? The bullets are bigger, but there wasn't anything really stopping them from going through any part of the plane (or pilot) except the engine block. It might negate any house rules for the armoured planes, though (German J-class and Sopwith Buffalos/Salamanders).

The 11mm was specifically employed for balloon-busting, and loaded with incendiaries as standard; I've not seen anything to indicate it was particularly potent against other aircraft, and would only give it a bonus against balloons. (When used on SPAD XIIIs it was standard to carry one 11mm and one normal Vickers - the 11mm Colt - Vickers was a re-bored rifle calibre gun, so no bigger than the normal .303 one.)

This is about what I figured -- short of hitting something solid, the target's not going to know the difference between 0.30 and 0.45. If there was any difference, the 11mm *might* have a range advantage over the 0.30, but it wouldn't be terribly helpful in air-to-air.
