- Here we go to dance with the French in a full force, Meine Herren! shouted Kommandeur Garsztka.
- if you call the last remaining five crates the full force, Sylvester, you are absolutely right... - replied Tannenberg.
- you'd better keep your mouth shut, Hans. The spirit is what really counts. And we have the spirit, my dearest friend.
- oh yes Sir...thanks to our quartermaster recently we have been fully supplied! My head is still aching after yesterdays celebration...

-------------------------
Bolko von Oppeln's diary:

We took to the air in our Jasta's last Dreideckers this time, for the D.V were being repaired.
The French scouts we saw were flying in abreast formation.

Against our astern.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81107&d=1363043055

We turned left like on parade to face the danger!

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81108&d=1363043087

But to our surprise two French pilots probably didn't notice us and rapidly turned right. A mess in enemy formation is always very welcome!

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81109&d=1363043124

First bullets exchange. Garsztka and me focused on the same French Nieuport Ace, but although I managed to place my bullets nicely, Sylvester missed and his guns jammed. The French pilot was a real marksman. My rudder was perforated.
Unfortunately Weissberg's plane was hit right in the engine. Will he manage to control the kite?

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81110&d=1363043154

Weissberg lost control of his damaged crate and collided with enemy Nieuport under fire from Tannenberg's spandaus. Wissberg was lucky enough to fly away unscathed, but the poor French plane was almost torn to pieces and lurked to the ground!

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81111&d=1363043192

We turned to the left pursuing the enemies, while two remaining French fighters appeared out of the blue to help their comrades. Schlange was in very good position to give us cover. He did it, showing his teeth...

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81112&d=1363043225

...and collided with one of the incoming Nieuports. His crate got severely damage!
In the meantime I tailed the French Ace and scored a very good hit in the center of the fuselage...
Tannenberg and Weissberg immelmanned to chase the enemies.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81113&d=1363043257

Anton is tough guy. He turned right searching for a possible kill. The French Ace slipped ti the left and I lost him from my gunsight.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81114&d=1363043291

Tannenberg exchanged fire with one of the Nieuports and got wounded...

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81115&d=1363043325

Weissberg saw the action, turned tightly right and shoot from a close distance...
Schlange hit the enemy as well and saw a thick black smoke coming out of the Nieuport fuselage. Well done Anton!

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81115&d=1363043325

Another collision! Weissberg's plane folds like a toy and goes down to the ground. A fatal loss!
Fortunately Garsztka finishes off one of the enemies.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81117&d=1363043396

Now two of the French and one Fokker are destroyed. 2:1 for the Eagles so far.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81118&d=1363043431

Anton Schlange got his kill and now we seem to hold the field!

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81119&d=1363043464

And now the mayhem begins! Tannenberg's fire is causing enemy's explosion. Garsztka, the lucky git, is evading fire, while we both perforate the Nieuport nicely.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81120&d=1363043498

The last standing enemy comes under Tanneberg's guns...

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81121&d=1363043534

Anton is heading for the base, while we cruise to catch the French bird.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81121&d=1363043534

He can not not escape the fray.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81123&d=1363043610

I made the first attack, but with no visible effect. Shame, he could be my victim!

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81124&d=1363043650

The iron Sylvester Garsztka can not miss. The enemy is down.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81125&d=1363043685

Leaving the remnants of the planes on the ground we finally headed for home.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81126&d=1363043722

The bills:

Victors of the fight are marked with crosses representing kills.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81127&d=1363043753

The ones who were stricken down. No one returned to base.

http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=81128&d=1363043784

A bloody victory for the Eagles.
What happened to Weissberg? We need a miracle...

Our French Allies seem to have lost some of their Élan just of late.
We will have to see what happens when their more modern machines start to roll off the production lines.
Well done the Eagles Andrzej. You have some excellent pilots there.
Kyte.

 You certainly made short work of those poor French Nieuport pilots Andrezj but just wait until you meet up with some real tough Aircraft like Camels & SE 5a's.
The Jackboot might be on the other foot then my friend.:cheezy: :guns::fokker:
