I painted an SM.79 resin model from AIM. This plane was my first work using Future floor polish to improve the look of my decals (thanks for the advice at the Williamsburg Muster, richard m schwab and John!). I am greatly pleased with the results of the Future floor polish. I am generally pleased with the paint job. This being a lighter colored aircraft, I primed in white instead of grey. This plane taught me, however, that when I apply white colored decals to a color contrasting surface such as the beige and green stripes of this plane, I need to paint white underneath the decal so that the paint doesn't show through. I need to apply more patience on some of the detail work -- I needed to apply a second coat to all of the green stripes to make them more even.

Hi David, I love the paint work!

I will be ordering three Sparvieros next week from AIM, I hope they turn out as well.

Very nice aircraft and excellent painting! It is tempting to go the AIM path and order extra mini's but the lack of propellors and clear canopy parts keeps me away for now. SWMBO is complaining already with the amount of aircraft I have now...

Ah Thomas, but the lack of propellers means easy, compact storage - out of sight of the significant other ;)

She has a nose to find hidden mini's! For now I'm happy with my collection of mostly official mini's.

This model looks very nice.

Animates me to buy some AIM miniatures again.

Well Dave you really inspired me to have a go at these beasties. Here is my poor attempt to emulate your superb rendition.

I love it! You have a very steady hand to paint the frames of the canopy -- I didn't have the guts to it.

Your work on the italian camouflage schemes is very impressive, Kevin. How long did it take you to finish the SM79?

Eric, it usually takes a few minutes to paint the bases colors top and bottom. Once they're dry I start painting the pattern which takes 30 minutes or so depending on how my arm, wrist, and hand feels. Overall it takes several days as I'll usually let the model sit overnight between priming, painting the canopy/windshield/windows, painting the top and bottom colors, painting the details, and then going back over everything to make sure it's the way I want it.

Thanks all for the kind comments. Kevin

Hi!

:salute: All!

I just finished this SM.79, from Old Glory UK's 'Bigger Flyin' Fokkers' line, in 1/100 scale, for a Special Order.

I am currently working on two more in 1/200 scale from AIM, again, for a special order. I will post those pics as soon as I complete them. thanks for looking.

I've done a few of those in my time as well Scott, and may I just say what a splendid job you have made of it.
Anyone would be proud to own that.

Thank you Gentlemen!

Yes, I am now jealous of my friend Jason's SM.79 and find that I want one of these before doing 3 more. One will be done in an alternate WWII Scheme and the other two for my 1/100 SCW Collection.

First to Finish my friend Mel's in 1/200...pics soon... ;)

Cheers,

FF
