I am interested in trying to play a couple of games set in the Pacific theatre but know nothing well not nothing but not much about the battles there. I am thinking of an attack by japanise forces a US carrier. the japenise planes that com ewith FFTS and Dawn are the Reisen the Hien the Val The Hayabusa and the Goshikisen.
Can any of these use torpedos? Which US planes are contempories of these?
Does anyone have a suggestion of where I can get some good info?

Thanks in advance

The standard japaneese torpedo plane was the Nakajima B5N Kate.

Early war USN planes would be:
Grumman F4F Wildcat Fighter
Douglas SDB Dauntless Dive Bomber
Douglas TBD Devastator Torpedo Bomber

Later USN line up would be
Grumman F6F Hellcat Fighter
Curtis SBC Helldiver Dive Bomber
Grumman TBF Avenger Torpedo Bomber

This site gives a decent overview of the pacific naval battles, including the carrier battles of course. The Coral Sea battle in 1942 was the first major carrier vs carrier engagement. Coral Sea, Midway and Leyte Gulf in particular might be of interest.

This page has a good account of the Midway battle:
