Hi everyone.

Been busy reading my way through your forums, Imust say its great to find such a clean n friendly place.

I was given the WW2 deluxe set for Easter and im now thinking of increasing the size of my squadrons after some more play testing.

My question is can someone send me a picture of a 1/200 plane alongside a 1/114th or other common adapted plane scale for use in WW2?

Hope I dont offend the purists out there :-)

Jeff,

No chance of that mate, there are players here on both sides of the fence!

Not having a MASSIVE existing collection of 1/144 scale models (yes you Kaufy), I personally opted to go purely 1/200 to match the WoW products. Others are using 1/144 only, and some are mixing and matching. For single engined fighters the diference is noticeable but not really an impediment to play.

Check out these threads, they are just a few on the topic:

Hi Riot. Its OK mate I'm not a purist and it takes a fair bit to offend me, when it comes to scale I'm a bit AC/DC. I hope this picture is what you are after. I threw in the 1/144 DR1 so you would get a beter idea of how it all compares. I personally prefer to use 1/144 all round, there is far more choice available in the scale, if you know where to look that is.

Cheers Gov's

Mighty spiffy of you both to for your rapid fire support, I saw myself getting dreadfully snowed under if it wasnt for the timing support :-)

Im kind of old fashioned in the sense that I get a far better grasp of scales by looking at them, I can see why people like both scales of aircraft, bigger n more dramatic I think would work in smaller games (lol and just plain visually intimidating in larger games) or smaller planes in huge numbers for a dynamic awe inspiring feel.

Now all I have to do is decide or just mix it up :-)

Riot! Carl and Trevor are both right! Pick a scale that works for you. Carl has some great looking Air-200 planes he has done. Trevor likes the 144 scale planes for their availability. I do the 144 scale, because i was using them before the came out with the minis, i have 200 or so. I also have 1:285 /1:300 scale planes for both WW1 and WW2, there are people who use them for WOW and DOW.
I added some shots of 1:285, 144 and a close to 1:200 scale Ki-46 Dinah.

Cheers Richard!

Thats what im after :-) gives me a huge over-view of the different common scalings, Im currently limited to only 2 1/220 scales planes at my local game shop and a lack of plane cards etc.. Look like ill end up travelling down the easier n cheaper sources path, still umming and arring about AIR200's and 1/144 scale mind you.

As i got the deluxe box set, im tempted to stay 1/200.....o o to many options lol :-P

Jeff! Long before WOW and later DOW came out i was doing N Scale Model Railroading. I had 144 planes to display with the layout. I had WOW and saw Dow was coming out i built a few WW2 kits and collected some 144 pre painted
i was using them as soon as i had the rules. The decision to go to 1:200 scale for the official releases was wrench in the works! It is also a long debated issue!
With 200 1:144 planes in my collection i will stick to that. Check out my photos!
