I would like to know your opinion about the movie flyboys. I saw it a time ago and remember that I was not really "flashed". Just remember some weird scenes of pilots, that try to get a machine gun repaired with a hammer... Anyway, the battle scenes where okay, just a little bit strange that all german planes seem to be Fokker DR I and all allied Nieuport-17...

Hi Dennis,

I have the movie and I usually have it on when I'm playing WoW solo in my living room. I think it's a great "popcorn Saturday afternoon movie". If is not a historical documentary so there many inaccuracies. My favorite is when the neuport pitches up and back causing his undercarriage to take the top wing of the pursuing Dr1! LOL! I get a kick out of that everytime I see it! Obviously he had the speedbrakes of a Dauntless Divebomber, but we just couldn't see them! LOL.

The movie was made by a director who knows very little about aerodynamics or the great war. So accept the movie for what it is and enjoy!!

Have Fun,
Frank.

I've got the movie on DVD... Its not a historical documentary, I realize that but the director could have made his homework a little better. All in all good enough to get you through a rainy afternoon.

I really like your avatar. If it ever comes out as a mini I'll buy it.

You're right about the director. If you listen to his commentaries during the movie he took historical events, individuals, or policies and put them into the movie without regard to accuracy. He felt the subject matter was too complicated for the audience. I feel he under estimated the intellectual ability of the audience and those who don't know any better have been misinformed.

Still like I said before accept it for what it is and enjoy.

Frank.

Alex I also have this on DVD. It is based on a historical fact, Americans did fly for France in WW1. It looks nice, but they spent the the budget on the CGI planes. That is why there are only two types of planes, and all the DR-1`s are painted RED!

I have the movie on DVD as well. I like the movie, even though it seems to have every war movie cliche ever invented. Not as good as the Blue Max but better than most other World War I aircraft movies.

Folks I have mentioned this movie Before on this site. Von Richtofen and Brown.
It is any thing but historically accurate but has some great flying scenes. I found some You Tube clips check them out.
