Boney10 and I both came to the same conclusions regarding colour and size of the hex pattern, based on the photos.
He used Skytrex, I used Shapeways - but they wouldn't look out of place flying in formation, cross patterns varied.

Mine was the Reviresco pattern which you can buy for the model.
Rob.
Zoe was quite right, my two are Skytrex though I did use Reviresco decals

As you can see from the different grain on the model, mine was home-made.

Anyway, full marks to Reviresco on some excellent historical research.

So - is this right?
F.O. Kyte - Model by Reviresco, Decals by Reviresco
Boney10 - Model by Skytrex, Decals by Reviresco
Zoe Brain - Model by Shapeways, Decals home brewed.
There's no way I could ever have assembled the G.IV's strutwork round the engine nacelles. I bow to your greatly superior modelling skills there!

When I checked back here Zoe, the one on this thread is actually the Skytrex one, and not the one I thought it was, which I made earlier for a friend of mine, so those decals are most likely to be some resized ones that Guntruck sent me.

Rob was that a Pigeon I saw trapped in that network of struts on your one. Could have been a Kite of course.:cheezy:

Very colourful Ian. A fine pair of aircraft. May I ask where you source your cammo?

Thank you. I printed the lozenge on a laser printer, the images I used are in my German Giants folder. I marked the decals out by holding the lozenge on the plane and marking out the shape in pencil then cut. I tried to make the decals a bit too big then cut small slits around the edges and used sol when applying them so the decal wraps around the model. It was tricky to decal around all the struts but I'm happy with how these turned out.

Thanks for the swift reply Ian.
The cammo sheets in your folder are excellent. It has given me an idea of making the ones I have done open for anyone to use too. You certainly seem to have mastered the art of decaling around tricky struts.
Rob.
Wonderful models produced by all.
The complicated struts and camo put me of getting one of those beauties.

I've also ordered three of them - but I'm quite unshure to use the usual cammo-pattern I ordered, too. But when I looked at Jack Herris book "Nachtflugzeug!" the German Purple in the hexagon pattern is more domoinant on the AEG N1 o it's clear to me the G.IV might be coloured in the very same way.
On the other hand I found last night these pictures of the AEG G.IV 574/18 very dark camouflage with a anthrazit lining between the polygones:
137832
137833
137834
But what for are the white lines -or are they just part of the aging process?
What do you think - will it be possible to paint a 1/144 tin kit in this way?
Yours,
Chris
Great photos Chris. That lozenge pattern would look fantastic on an AEG. Home made decals are the best way to do something like that. The pattern would look good with the black outline and it'd be easy to make the image to print. Are there five colours in that lozenge?

So Zoe, our gifted digital diva, how difficult would it be to make the lozenge in post #22 in a jpeg so it could be done as a decal or sticker? I am stunned by the muted colors and black deliniators . . . I have a lozenge grid and have pondered doing them in water colors and scanning them but would a digital effort be easier? Just wondering. . . .

My computer with all my artwork is currently missing, along with the person who was repairing it. I got an SMS from him saying he was being taken to hospital, then nothing. I'm going to the local cop shop tomorrow.
Most are backed up, but the backup requires Win10, not the android tablet I'm using.

well heres my AEG G,IV night bomber attempt. its a reviresco which id hoped would be an easier build than valom kits. it was in some ways but just as bad if not worse in other ways. it was kind of a nightmare due to poor moldings and missing parts (ie no rudder). the struts were weak so i replaced the outer ones and landing gear struts with ones cut from a paper clip. due to the complexity of the inner struts i had to use them. and they were a mighty pain as far as poor moldings and trying to get them to fit. but i did it. the paintsheme, being a night bomber was relatively easy except for the sharksmouth which i knew i needed to have as soon as i saw it!!! sadly the dullcoat frosted a bit for some reason, but im just going to live with it as i just want to be done with this one. mines got 4 crew as thats what it came with and i didnt see 3 crew until after id glued the 4th guy in. there does seem to be at least a bit of precedent for it though. when researching AEG GIVs i came across a video depicting a captured one and its crew. and it showed 4 rather unhappy looking men. so a least that one carried 4 crew. almost forgot, i tried to make the propellers spin, but the metal was just too weak for it.

and what are the stats for a GIV? cards ive seen show an XD deck with 24 hitpoints and a K deck with 19 hitpoints. from what i read it was fast and quite agile.
anyway, ive got 3 more reviresco minis waiting in the wings; pfalz DXII, fokker DVI, and a sopwith dolphin. well see how they go.

Unofficial Committee has G.IV as K deck, 19 damage, climb rate of 5 and ceiling 10.
The late war armored variant (not positive it made it into combat) is listed as Y deck, 24 damage, climb rate 8 and ceiling 8.

Links to cards are in Post #29 above, using the Unofficial Stats Committee reference docs. It uses a "K" Maneuver Deck and 19 Damage. That's about as official as it gets.
Also, doing up another card with this 4 camo lozenge pattern:
