My first Felixstowe. I much prefer the look of the later version, but the dazzle schemes were a little too intimidating at the time  . I've gotten a second one since, however, and since it's also a late bird, dazzle will be the order of the day for it. Shapeways by Colinwe, crew from Reviresco, paint primarily Vallejo, and decals 1/72 Microscale.

Could someone recommend where I find roundels suitable to use on the Shapeways Felixstowe? Looks like I need 2 cm versions for the top wing and 1.5 cm versions for the bottom wing...did you folks use 1/72 decals, perhaps, to get the size, or did you make your own?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, Peter:)

I was just searching Google images for the Felixstowe and found this link www.hyperscale.com/2015/features/felixstowe32ls_1.htm from a fellow who had built the Wingnuts model - it's a superb series of pictures of his build of the kit...seems he has built models for the British Museum...:p The scheme is one of the five included in the Wingnuts kit.

With a guide like that to follow, it just became a matter of how much did I want to try and replicate.

All the best,
Matt

This is the first time I've seen this scheme. Quite different from the red or blue dazzle. I really like it! I have a Shapeways Felixstowe to do but now am torn on which scheme...might have to get another.

Thank you, guys :drinks:

I edited these cards and may play this way. From what I've read so far there were often 4 or 5 crew depending on the mission but I've yet to read about 6. I think there may be limited space between the cabin guns and hard to distribute enough crew if one of the pilots is using the 90* to port B-firing Lewis in the nose.

The top tail gunner was often limited because German seaplanes would try to attack from dead astern or just below, so the Felixstowes would dive to 50' of altitude to prevent this and yaw left and right to give the cabin gunner(s?) opportunity.

Mike, this particular scheme wasn't as daunting as I'd feared, the crazy patterns are more forgiving than the stripes/squares of some other dazzle schemes. Yes, you're going to need something to keep those hornets of Zeebrugge in check :guns:

Robert - Sure. I have been using Testor's Olive Matte oil-based paint for the wings on most of my RFC planes including the Felixstowe. I'll bring it to our next game night and you can see if it works for you. Otherwise I'll use whatever you suggest. And yes no dazzle camo is good by me:thankyou:
