How do you think about a WW II painting contest in the future?

There are many Messerschmitts, Zeroes, Spitfires & Wildcats on the market. Easy to get one and make a nice repaint.

 Good idea, although we may face a problem with decals availability.

I would even have a go at it myself if it were not too restrictive as to type and make.

I'd try to enter - If I could get hold the appropriate mini, decals and some interesting paint scheme.

Two extra Bf09's and one P40 are coming my way to be repainted. So bring on that contest. ;)

Just not now as I'am moving and all my modeling stuff is put in boxes far far away from me :(. Hopefully in two weeks I can restart again and finish some of my projects (2 B17G and a C47)

As this site covers both wars the painting competitions should also cover both wars.
Having said that I will not take part as I still have plenty of WWI planes to paint and I don't want to move into yet another gaming period.

The Hurricane is the obvious choice. The Russian Lend-Lease version put out by Nexus was possibly the ugliest, scrappiest, most hurried scheme on any aircraft.

Soon non-repainted versions of this will be rare, just like pink Rolands.

Hurricanes with desert camouflage for example.

I totaly agree.

Great idea. We need more WW2 contests to promote both sides of the game.

This is what came to my mind at first glance. Desert Emils as their counterparts would also be fine.;)

Yeah, I can see this could be a bit of a problem :D

I take it this is not restricted to Ares stuff?

As long as it's 1/200th scale, why would it have to be Ares?

Same argument as for the WWI contests, I guess - It is, after all, a site concerned with the game Wings of Glory, so contests that promotes minis that exists in the official game are better.

why restrict to 1/200. If I play WW2 with these rules it will probably be with 1/300 minis, of which I have many.

Think the contest should be similar to the WW I painting contests:

One model* - one size - different producers

*maybe 1/200 & 1/144 for WW II models - but I don't know how much 1/144 users are at the drome.

Never read here something about the 1/300 models.

I would also like to see a WWII repaint contest. I enjoyed watching and voting on the Nieuport Challenge, but I couldn't bring myself to wade into another game (that is my perspective, at least). I agree that it makes sense to restrict a repaint contest to the types of planes produced by Ares, but leave it open to use Ares' produced planes or other sources. I think Hurricanes and P-40s (I am thinking of the French P-40) would be good candidates for a contest.

While we're on the subject - Anyone know of a good source for Hurricanes?
(Preferably official minis - Otherwise plastic/resin preferred over metal.)

I saw some of them in my country's online shops in good prices. PM if you want the links, Niclas.

Decals I think big prob.

I'm willing to make bespoke decals and post them anywhere in the world in return for donations of $5 to this site.

I only have an inkjet printer, so white is an issue - I need to print it as white on a coloured background. I'd recommend the same for yellow, lt grey, khaki too.
