Am I right, Andrzej, you don't have any two seater crews?

Lt. Garsztka is a good two seater pilot, why don't you assign a complete new gunner/observer to him? So you don't have to banisch your Jasta Leader into a gunner position.

I'd like to add - you are right, Sven. But I'm affraid I'd exceed the initial number of pilots/observers we started the campaign with. Would it be right, you think?

For shure, Andrzej.:serious:

The Bulldogs have 9 two-seaters crews. Each with personalized pilots and personalized gunners/observers.

If we have a greater need for twoseaters, Hauptmann Willy Gabriel would report to the Hauptquartier to request more personal to man the Eagles Rolands and Rumplers.:salute:

From the Recruitment Center:

I think it should rather look like this (for example):

PC 1 - pilot - assigned scout
PC2a - pilot / PC2b observer - assigned two-seater

NPC1 - pilot
NPC2 - pilot
NPC3a - pilot / NPC 3b - observer
NPC4 - pilot
NPC5 - pilot
NPC6 - pilot

:salute:Sorry for butting in, but it seems very sensible to me to do what Sven and Andrzej suggests.
It never sits well with me to actually have a mixed Squadron of Scouts and two seaters anyway. Apart from the odd two seater runabout, did any Squadrons actually have this mixture in 1917? I think it would be more accurate to draft in two seaters from another Squadron if we had a mission which required them. It would also give us another aspect to our story line. ie. the friendly rivalry and banter established between two Squadrons working from different sides of the same airfield.
Think of the Guest nights we could hold in the Mess.:FOK:

You're right Rob - this isn't an invitation to add as many gunners/observer as wished.

But Andrzej has no two-seater crew at all, because he already registered before we started to discuss the two seater option.

If one of his pilots prefers to do fly recon/patrol/bombing/courier missions with a two seater he needs a gunner/observer. That coulnd't be a nobody. Should be someone from the Eagles ground personal or the Ausbildungsstaffel.

Don't know how the Jastas/Squadrons were organized in 1917, but I know that you handle the Britols Fighters as scouts (High Speed & Immelmann) and not as common two seaters. I see them as very dangerous super twoseaters with excellent maneuvers, deadly armament and a good stamnia.

I agree, that the Eagles or Bulldog's will not man Capronis, Gothas, or Handley Page bombers.

Well, for instance the K. und K. Luftfahrtruppen had some "mixed" units in 1917:

Flik D (Divisions Fliegerkompanie) - 4-6 reconnaissance aircraft, several pursuit aircraft
Flik F (Fernaufklärungs Fliegerkompanie) - 6 two-seater reconnaissance aircraft, 2 pursuit aircraft

That would be no doubt a claryfing and smart solution, without messing up with observers victories. I like it a lot. All of the pilots would stay as fighter pilots and we would have a straightforward competition. That's why I didn't assign any 2 seater crews at the start for they did not suite to the squadron as a fighter unit, but - of course - may do it now. Hmmm... I'm affraid we will have to stay with the 2 seaters...

That's something we had to exclude at the start of the campaign, but this would affect the Bristol Fighters, too.

I won't abstain from Harper/Sharpe & Asher/McGillian anymore. They all solved important missions.

New observers has just arrived to Kaisers Eagles Jasta, according to Hauptquartier's order.

Skowronski, Martin,
Zencominierski, Lothar

[I have searched http://aces.safarikovi.org/victories/germany-ww1.html to find some polish-origin-like family names of WWI German pilots and found those two, along with Gabriel, Jach, Garsztka and Wroniecki].

Andrzej, you may also search some Austro-Hungarian lists, there were Poles flying for the Emperor and the King too.

Check this: http://aces.safarikovi.org/victories/poland-ww1-kuk.html and this: http://aces.safarikovi.org/victories/poland-ww1-igas.html

The whole website is an excellent resource: http://aces.safarikovi.org/

If we (the Bulldogs) were to share a field with a Two seater Sqn perhaps we should name them 'The Bull Terriers' or some such name ?
Rather than starting another Sqn we could just accept our 2 seat crews are part of it already & carry on playing as we are doing...?
As for crews currently listed - all my men are Flying Officers (not a rank at this time) and I consider them all to be pilots albeit some have the 'role' of Observer. (I suppose they should be Pilot Officers really !)

Well chaps, I really did not mean to put the cat amongst the chickens like this.
I never intended to suggest that anything but the Squadrons were in my mind when I made the tentative suggestion. I never expected to upset any of the Jastas nor the K. und K. Luftfahrtruppen.
Nor did I expect that we would suddenly move the goal posts during a campaign.
It was merely a passing thought of mine which I now regret voicing in public.
I hope I have not ruffled too many feathers.
I am sorry that after I went away and flew the mission, I came back to all this.
I'm sure things will settle down again when Major Kyte gets back from G.H.Q. with his instructions for the next mission.
Rob.

No reason for being sorry, Rob! It was a an important idea worth applying to a campaign like ours. Of course there is no special need to exclude any pilot/observers from our squadrons. Let's go ahead with the mixed crews:thumbsup:

Sorry, if I verbally rumble through some threads like a Hun on search for Blutwurst. Can't express it in a better way or with a higher degree of fineness.

But we all realized, that ther is a need for twoseaters and crews.

Just a little advice, guys:

Please wait with Mission 8 AARs till the last player has finished mission 7.

Does not matter for Rob's mission, cause he fight versus unknown opponent pilots and his used pilots are not touched by mision 7.

You have to take care with AI pilots or opponent pilots, you want to use in mission 8: Make shure the survived or stay unharmed mission 7!

One Entente and three Central Power Players need to fullfill mission 7 at the moment.
