    Default Bomber miniatures

It was just announced that we will get some bomber miniatures this year. They are the Caproni CA.3 and Gotha G.V. Both will come in two different paint schemes.

I am glad they are doing an Italian bomber so I can build up my Italian forces and will certainly be buying the Goth. Dave if you want a Zepplin, then have a look at Skytrex web sight as they now make one, and from the photes it looks to be an excellent model well worth getting, that is if you can afford the 180 (UK) Pound price tag

It's not just the pricetag that's scarry. The whole thing is 42 inches long If I put that on my gaming table the planes would be left with very little space to move

    Hi Steve,
I didn't think about that. I may need a bigger playing area.

    Hey Doug,
Are you talking about the Zepplin Dirigible or the Zepplin Bomber. The bomber had a closed cockpit and a flight mechanic in each engine nacelle. That sucker is huge!!

Perhaps I need to redo the guest bedroom in a WoW war room! YEEEEYA BABY!!!

    Have Fun,
    Frank.

I am pretty stoked for something like this to come out. Every one of these specialist packs is going to add a whole new level of "wow" to WoW

Yes I agree I am still wating on my DH2's & Fockker E III which I want now, but I have got to admit after looking at the stats for the WW1 bombers they are going to be big models.

Another nice thing about the Ca3 is that it looks the same as the Ca1 and Ca2, only the engines, and hence the stats, being different. So it will stand in for the earlier aircraft easily.

Hope some day to see some of the smaller bombers such as the AEG G IV or the Caudron G4

Anyone already have a 1/144 model of these that can share a pic? Just wondering how big they will be?

Thanks, I know that the LGS carries some of the skytrek kits, but have not seen one assembled. Will probably look into getting some once the box set comes out and I can play them.

Whatsy-digits...Sorry can't remember his name, over on the FFG site has some pictures of it. I was kinda bashing on the looks of the "Skytrek" Gotha.
I didn't much care for the looks of it.

    "Pour Le Merite"...{sounds better than whatsy-digits}

I think the whole concept is going to be interesting. A giant mini may cause some issues with folks who have smaller play areas or use those Wings of War mats which are already a bit constraining if you only have 1.

The promise of true tactical bombing though could be really a lot of fun to see.

I was expecting the Handley Page 0/400. I guess that would be too big. The Caproni & the Gotha are similar in size and therefore would use the same packaging.

Excellent point! Logistically I bet you're dead on for that.

Hm, how many planes(paint-schemes) do we have flying the Italian/Astro-hungarian front though?

I just checked Wikipedia and it seems like both France, Britain and the United States used the Caproni bombers as well which is good.
But they were replaced later in the war with Handle Page type O's, so I'm a but curious during which period they flew over the western front, since the first Handley Page was introduced in late 1916..

When month are the bombers due for release?

  29. #29

    Default

Does anyone know whether they are going to be in 1/144 scale as well? I really hope so!!
If they are, Gotha G.V is getting a 16,45 cm wingspan, quite a monster on the playing mat: can't wait to see it.
Nothing to be compared with the Staaken anyway: it would have a 29,3 cm wingspan and a lenght of 15. About the size of an A4 sheet.

Yes, the bombers will be in 1/144 scale to match the other minis.

Brilliant - more reasons for my wife to hate my hobby! Naturally I must own them. I just hope FFG keeps the releases nicely staggered, too many in too short of a time makes wife aware of just how much I spend.

  33. #33

    Default

Chinese new year's eves, icelandic volcanos, storms at seas and quite many human and natural factors tend to randomize release dates a bit. This could scatter releases or gather them together in the same days. If the latter happens, please delay some of the buys yourself to stay below Wife's Alarm Level...

My wife went to DEFCON2 when I mentioned Giants. However when the minis arrive they are a must have, just like the shoes in the shop she has just seen. Although I could also pass the blame on to my Col. who has forced me to buy them with unarguable logic that they are awsome.

Ask her: "Which models would you rather I spent my money on -- this kind, or the kind with peroxided hair and beach-balls in her brassiere?"

Food for thought Bob. Do we buy some Skytrex bombers now or wait for ffg ? They certainly look good

That really depends on which bombers you need. The Handley Page and Staaken are not scheduled, so if you want them in your lifetime, even supposing it is more than two weeks, you will have to build them yourself.

That's why I like to buy direct rather than mail order - easier to put in a backpack and sneak through Checkpoint Charlie, than face the inquisition after the postie roll up with a big parcel while I am out

I'm going to have that problem when the latest FiC order arrives. Bit hard to disguise the arrival of a carrying case

Wow, you guys have it rough.

My wife doesn't bother me about how much I spend on minis & games.

Of course I didn't give her any grief about the $5000 Viking gas range & oven or the $3000 antique dining room table.

Same here, it was a nightmare before a LGS decided to open in Cardiff last October. I'd order stuff on-line and it always got delivered on a day I had left home early.

Now I work on a principle no boxes or other evidence to give the game away. So, when I now have to order some new toys due to local supply issues it's so rare it doesn't seem to draw attention

I going to have a look at Shaun's bombers and decide if I'll go for the ones out now or wait for the WoW ones.

I AM a postie, so all my mail is given to me rather than being delivered, saves interrogation!

Not having a wife is better having been there done that, the older they get the more they nagg so being single I can buy what ever I want (that as long as I have enough credit on my card!).
