Sven, please count me in. I have been building our WWII collection, and would like to try them out. I recently picked up some books on the BoB, so it would give me reason to read them this coming spring.

I like simple objectives...
If I can get my act together, I'm going to make an attempt at catching up and completing the OTT missions I missed during my extended absence. If I can do that, then I'd happily turn my eyes towards a BoB campaign... will need more 109s, though... always need more 109s.
I now have the following aircraft not in Desert camo. Would this be sufficient to put up a decent showing for the BoB?
Germans.
Ju 87b one, but could field two Italian ones too.
Me 110c two.
Heinkel 111. two.
ME 109s 7.
Allies.
French Dewoitine. one.
Belgian Hurricane. one.
British Hurricanes. three.
British Spitfires. four.
Fleet Air Arm. Martlets. two.
Beaufighters. two.
Gloucester Gladiators. two.
Sea Gladiators four.
and one Fairy Swordfish soon to be four.
Plus two barrage balloons.
If you think that I could cover the scenarios adequately with these aircraft, count me in.
Rob.

I'm slowly building my WW2 collection, so April seems fine by me. If we could have some possible scenarios before it might help with getting the right minis and some WW2 practice
Um. Does this mean that tikkifriends idea has been shelved?
See you on the Dark Side......
Idea?
Did you mean the battle around Europe?
I can't remember 100%.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Not really, my friend.
Although the British were fighting a defensive and stalling battle, the more time they bought the best were their chances of defending Great Britain, and the British pilots were ordered not to engage German fighters unless impossible, the German fighters had bombs or the German fighters were returning without fuel. This gives us enough to create some very interesting scenarios for both sides. The Germans tried their best to lure the British fighters into battle, and the British were very careful in doing that.
And during the Battle of Britain, the British bombed a lot, destroying many ships that the Germans wanted to use for Operation Sea-lion.
And to finish, the saving of German and British pilots shot down over the Channel, was a stage for many interesting dogfights.
A lot of material and a romantic setting, I would say.
What to bomb with?
Hurries and Spits did not carry bombs.
Maybe with the Galdiators... (two 45 Kg bombs)
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Hurricane Mk IIb - the "Hurribomber"?
You owe me at last one Midway Rising mission here, before joining the European front.
Question is: What's playable with the stuff from Nexus/Ares Games we have?
As far as I knew, the MKII did not fight in the Battle of Britain. (July - October 1940)
There will be problems to integrate the Beaufighter, too.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
I had mooted the idea of a campaign involving playing in different Theatres, BoB , Midway etc but if you want to organise a BoB Sven I'm happy to contribute scenarios and help in the admin. Got 5 Spits, 4 109s, 4 111 and 4 Hurricanes 9 Wildcats,2 Achi, 8 Zeros and several Axis and Allies carriers IJN and US plus escorts
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
A Malta scenario would certainly suit me more as I have the British bombers for that, plus a British Mediterranean Fleet and Convoy with escorts.
Rob.

Why not?
I want to play a BoB campaign with a certain frame like Midway Rising.
Certain frame means:
5 - 10 missions with a symbolic historical process
fixed time corridor
available numbers and kind of planes
organisation of briefings, rules and missions like Dave does here
own roster if needed, like I do for the Eagles (http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...erlichen-Adler) or VF-8 on board of the USS Hornet (http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...echallannes%29)
We can combine this with Paul's idea of course!
I think Dave's system, he developed here Over the Trenches, is a good structure for a WW II campaign project.
Shouldn't be a problem to get a subforum like Midway Rising with 4 - 5 "important threads". One for the WWII solo campaign rules, one for BoB, one for Malta, one for the Pacific, one for an Eastern front scenario, and so on - containing links to the briefings, flewn missions, etc...
The whole rest takes place in the subforum as normal threads like an infirmary & a WW II officers'club.
Most important: Get familiar with the WW II solitair rules It's not everybodies taste.
I knew that Neal, Andrzej and Rob have experience with those rules.
Another point: It can be really lonesome, if you're one or two players in a theater.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
So in the WW2 section you'll be needing an 'Over the Channel' sub forum Sven !
I won't be partaking as I have no WW2 stuff at all
That's a real pity, Dave!
I'm all for BoB Campaign and have every official plane needed in some numbers.
Can't wait, so to say, with my Merry Bloody Foreigners of 303rd band of brothers
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Ok lets have a head count on pilots within the OTT forum and then if we are short of players put it out to the Drome as a whole
Numbers wise would 8 pilots per side be a good number ?
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings

Like the Over the Channel sub forum Dave

I would like to be counted among the pilots participating.
I would like to take part, depending on aircraft required for the scenario.
Count me in. Have some not all for scenario's.
See you on the Dark Side......
Count me in. I will play either side - wherever I am needed. I can develop a scenario or two. Catching up on the OTT missions and AAR reading has reminded me how much I enjoy playing with you folks.
I just got back from JoAnn Fabric where I bought desert, brown, green, and no-man's-land gray felt. Sue is going to help me with other forms of ground terrain. So I am preparing for any theatre you want to play.
As for BoB, is there a general list of planes that could potentially be involved?
I can table a few each of 109s, Spits, and Hurricanes. I've also got a couple of 110s, three He111s, and a pair of Stukas. I'm short other RAF aircraft except for a few Gladiators. I'm hoping to grow my 109 fleet (who isn't?) and may look into picking up a Battle and/or Defiant.
So far its Rob, Andy, Sven ,Neil Trev, Eric,Me, Christopher,Joaquim for BoB scenarios . Spin offs into the Med and Pacific are a distinct possibility I would have thought if you have the planes.
Anymore for anymore?

Count me in chaps for a Pacific War campaign!
I still have my VF-8 Fighter Squadron, Barry.
You will not fight alone there, wingman.
BoB & Pacific - Axis & Allies!
I have to reserve one half of the brain for the Lufwaffe and the other for the US Navy.
And I need a switch...
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Got my F4 flights as VF 6 as I have the Enterprise and Intrepid A&A models
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings

With interest high for a Pacific theatre as well as a BoB We could run a scenario for each every month so people could play either or both as they wished
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
We need to plan and fly this parallel because not all have the planes for two theaters.
BoB players, Malta players and Pacific players have to fix the time period and the number & kind of missions, before.
Don't misjudge the time you need to fly a WGS solitair mission.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
I'll take on BoB with the Britts - 303 squadron with Andy and I be on the side of the Empire of the Rising Sun. As for Malta, as soon as I have planes we can make an ongoing interlude campaign. I need SM-79. I love them so much. I'll try to make some in paper and we'll see.
Can we create a list of suggested planes for each theatre? This will give some of us time to fill in the holes in our collection. Thanks.
BoB:
Malta:
Pacific:
Have a look at this thread, guys.
http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...sed-minis-WWII
Dan-Sam already did the work for us.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
And we can add some more official and non official planes to the list:
Official Cards:
P-39 (Card but no model - AIM has it)
Il-16 (Card but no model - AIM has it)
Dauntless (Card but no model - AIM has it)
Fan made Cards:
Blenheim (AIM has it)
Avenger (AIM has it)
Kate (AIM has it)
JU-88 (AIM has it)
Etc.
Would think that one scenario for BoB, with theatre specific tweaks, may suit all - eg fighter sweeps, bomber interception, convoy protection, air-sea rescue would adapt easily - then the chaps can pick which theatre they wish to adapt it to.
I won't be playing of course but might be persuaded to play 'Uncle' for it !
Rob, you're developing an interesting Full-Quote Desease...
Dave that would be great.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
I think, you're infected too, comrade...
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
For BoB I have a 4 plane flight of 56 Sq Hurricanes and 64 Sq Spits
For Pacific I have 1, 4 and 6 section VF 6 F4s and a load of Zeros and 2 Vals
For Malta I could use my 109s and 111s
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
