Back sooner expected! I didn't get done before you got back after all. Got my plane done. Don't have a satisfactory way to track Ace skills. Been trying to muster the gumption to make a set of Ace cards that satisfies me, but haven't done it. Might not be until the weekend the way I'm feeling right now.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling too chipper at the moment Rob. I hope you manage to get on top of it soon. When I feel low in spirits I try to imagine it is caused by something else, too much flying, battle fatigue etc. Moving the blame to some imaginary cause seems to make it better somehow. I don't know if that would help you, but I thought that it was worth sharing just in case.

Stiff upper lip Rob me old wingman. We're right behind you. A few sniffters, a jolly good hot bath and a darn good book. Early to bed and rest easy old chum all flights accounted for and missions covered. Get well soon.

Thanks lads. Had a few of these: and some of this so, we'll see. I didn't realize the Ace Cards from BGG actually had cards for the skills, so I may just order a set of those & just bite the bullet & jot them down on a piece of paper for now. Not fancy, but would do for now.

    Sad news, comrades.

The new forum structure does not allow me to upload pictures at the moment.

My total pictures require 260 MB at the moment, so the only way seems to join as a gold member, if I want to upload picture in the future.

Unfortunately the progress of this subsription thing suprised me a little bit.

Besides the fact that I donated the normal way three days ago to the WOG Aerodrome and SOG Anchorage (combined - nearly enough for a silver membership) when hearing that we could need a better server capacity (), I'm not shure if I join in this way - when I join in this way and if it will be silver or gold.

I f I join in as a silver member in future I need to delete 10 MB of pictures and more to have room for new AARs.

Actual I don't like the idea of a permanent pay. I would prefer a single payment a year, or something like that.

I have to watch the development of this payment thing and need a little bit time to think on it.

It's not a question of having the money or not - or supporting the Aerodrome or not, I'm shure you undestand what I want to say, because you see my engagement.

There will be a solution but I don't like the idea that I have (or be forced) to pay permanent If I want to continue the campaign or write AARs at the moment. Maybe I'll stop my engagement at BBG and concenrate the donation here, but this will not take place in October or November.

So there is no possibility of uploading pictures at the moment. Means: No AARs until I make a decision.

Please understand If I skip Mission 8 and 9.

Understood you fully, Wingman. Take your time. There is no need to skip missions however. I'll gladly read your written AARs with a given outcome. Just play and there is no need to write FULL AARs

I think that we can reach here some kind of agreement about your membership.
I think that no one here can question your commitment to the 'Drome.
I cannot speak about anyone else, but my monetary support to the 'Drome in no way demands that others must do it.
I think that there are people who should have an "Honoris Cause" membership here and you surely are one.

Let's wait until things get clearer and the Oberst has less stress with the organisation.

I'm not the only one that thinks this way and there are points that have to be discussed in future.

For example lost Don (LGKR) his custom Avatar, too.

Know what you mean Sven - for us Alte Campaigners there's only one option to keep our old pics on AARs & that is by going for gold but as Neil has already found out some of us are already over the limit and alot of history will be flushed from the system to accommodate the new which is very sad. It feels like the greatest contributors are being punished and the site itself will be the overall loser.
As it is we may have to consider limiting our AAR to a few pics only to illustrate the action

I really don't think that this is what Keith wants. He really wants this project to work fine, so we'll be able to find a middle ground here that will be positive to all of us. You've kept hope high when things were gloomy it won't be now that you'll let things fall.
With some many new and shiny planes coming.

I go away for a few hours, and all this hits the fan. I know that Keith wants to keep the ethos of the Drome the same. As far as I know you can make your subscription yearly. I did mine that way. I figured that if I bough magazines each month to cover everything that we get on here it would cost far more than the $60.I am sure that Keith will work it out as soon as he has time. This has been a great effort to get so far, so fast. He is also trying to get the Accessories up and running properly again. I agree with Sven, we just need to let the dust settle, and then we can address these other matters. Rob.

I know it's not what he wants but it is what he will get - if I went to a Silver membership my storage would be reduced from 500 to 50mb so a huge percentage of my pictures would be gone; Neils gone for gold but his storage is full already and he has had to delete pictures already to add a new AAR. That's not so much the issue, it's when people start deleting their painting & how to pics when things will start to look really sad. If he said for Gold you get 500mb of new storage on top of what you already have then that would be better then the high end users wouldn't have this dilemma. I don't know how do-able that is.

Well I knoe a song about that or even know. "Delete, delete!" When I get home it is all coming off baring anything to do with How to or AAR's. There is a mega load of stuff that I have on my home computer, which will cover the need to use a special picture from time to time. Rob.

Back on Base again after a couple of weeks of Sun and Grandkids near Gib only to find the village had a power cut the first week away and tripped the mains switch . Result no recordings of the American football, Holby and Casualty (thank god!) or strictly. Only 2 freezers full of rotting food and an isurance company that wants reciepts for the food you bought 6 months ago

The problems of modern civilization, I'll tell you. If it was the middle of 19th Century you wouldn't have:

    To worry about electric bill or power downs;
    More than a week's food at home;
    To deal with insurance "blood sucking" companies (at least for normal people);
The possibility of sharing this with me, almost instantly, 2000km away.

    I hope this helps.

I'm confused. If I understand, Gold says you're allowed unlimited # of pictures, but if I'm reading it right, you're limited to 500MB, which means you're limited on # on pictures? I can find how many pictures I have, but I can't find how many MB I've used.

I'll start being choosier about what I U/L. I have been uploading everything I took (except deleted ones of course), not just the ones I used in the AAR. I'll have to stop doing that. I'll go back through the AAR's, figure out which pics I used, & delete the rest.

Unfortunately I can no longer commit to the campaign. It has been great and I have more than enjoyed playing. I have explained why in the Forum Officers Mess so I will not repeat myself here. I apologise if this has upset the balance but I feel there is no other way at present.

    Oh Matron !

Neil - That is a crying shame, I have no idea what was said or the context and I know what you're doing is honourable but disappearing into your billet with a Webley & one round is not the way to go, if that was necessary I'm sure Herr Oberst would provide the Webley, or Luger, as the case may be !
Apologies have been made so take some time out, get your head right and I expect to see you back on parade by November. Carry on.

Failing that ask Eric or Herr Oberst !

Let me explain the facts. I may be not totally impartial in this. Sorry for that.
    Started here:

    http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...084#post253084

An excellent AAR. I don't really remember if in the first post there was any "english-with-Japanese-accent" where Neil made the terrible offense of trading the rr's by ll's. I'm going to give an example under the terrible danger of being erased from the world. "You tellible tlaitol."

    Then Rob made a joke:

"Velly funny Amelican swine! Great AAr. Neil. Why swine, because you are about to run me into more expense. Where oh where did you get that magnificent harbour? Just what I need for Malta and Taranto etc. Rob. "

(It was an inside joke from something that happened between them.)

Then Neil replied to the joke with the fake Japanese accent (I laughed a lot - my bad! I'm a terrible person.)

Ah with Amelican and Blitish torpedo before 1940'tree no velly good. You need red dot on ship to hit and explode. You pick distance to drop, choosey red or black dot, place torpedo marker. Then evily turn after flip torpedo twice, if red dot is on ship target then torpedo go bangy (doesn't matter 1st or 2nd flip).

Then (the irony of this is awesome) Baldric62 decided to scold Neil's ears for his "offensive" post:

I have no idea which linguistic group you're trying to caricature with that, but if you are trying to insult the Japanese, the standard is that they couldn't pronounce the letter 'L' rather than 'R', which is allegedly why Australian troops used watchwords like 'Wallaby'.

    Infantile, inaccurate and insulting.

Fortunately I don't think we have any Japanese members of this forum.

And Neil decided to delete his excellent post and leave, a thing that I respect but don't agree.
I think that if someone was offensive here and should atone for his behaviour it isn't certainly Neil.
    But that's my 5 cents.

My concern Rob, is that we do not get a domino effect, where all the sensitive feeling members up and leave the Drome. OTT is being decimated because of the remarks made by a member of the Drome who is not even a playing member in the OTT campaign. Whatever the reasons for the responses to and fro, it is not worth your leaving. Compared to many sites this is a minor upset which will blow over. One such happening in over four years is not going to escalate into all out war. Well not the sort that you may envisage at any rate.
Give things a few days to settle down. None of your friends want to loose you. it is hard enough thinking that Neil has opted out, and I'm sure he will be back in his own good time. Just reflect on all the good things that the site has to offer and help to support the rest of us through this by staying with us please.
