I did say be careful what you wish for Sven. Perhaps someone can write up a rescue mission to get Rigby home ?!
If the Eagles had fielded enough pilots my unidentified opponent KIA would count against them - perhaps we should seek to identify him ?! - but they too have a few more WIA to add to their tally.

If you want to kill an Eagle - try next mission!

...and the mission is a big success. It's war - I don't want that our pilots get bored in the officers mess!

Too true Sven, if we didn't have to use just our selected PC I would've flown as a different pilot (and aircraft) on each mission to 'share the love' !

Dear Bulldogs, I completed the short roster to show our status after mission 6.

Please check the results for your Pilots and the kills.

I hope we get the results for Trotter, Tavy, Willeman, Zeller, Shute and Stone soon.

We'll need two replacements so far for:

Archibald (Archie) Worker KIA - Rob

    and

    Jonathan Rigby POW - Todd

You have the numbers of the airmen a bit wrong, Sven.

There is no Jim Tavy in the roster, and if he is a replacement, he is definitely not number 23, as this is already taken (albeit by a pilot that is KIA). The same goes for your number 17 and number 6, resulting in wrong numbering. Check the squadron roster, please.

For Archibald Worker, I have recieved a replacement Pilot from the Neverhavem training school.

The Bulldogs short roster numbers don't fit to the main roster numbers. Replacements are placed on the old KIA or POW pilots positions.

Imagine, a blackboard in the Bulldogs briefing room with all pilot names and their status on it.

The G&T doesn't taste when your name on the board is surrounded with KIA pilots...

Jan, this is a mission 6 AAR:

    Kyte.
    Thank you Rob.

I'll contact Joaquim how long we have to wait before we could send him on his first sortie.

Sven, if the short roster does not fit the main roster's numbers, it makes tracking the status of the airmen quite complicated and time consuming. Why use numbers at all in the short roster then? They are only confusing.

As for Jim Tavy, how come the Bulldogs roster after mission 5 had exactly the correct number of pilots and observers without him? That is 5 players, 8 numbers each, total 40. 3 of those had been KIA and there were 3 replacements already, making the total 43. There is no reason why the Bulldogs should have more pilots than allowed by the rules, that is 8 per player.

Rob, FO Evans has been added.

The Bulldogs either need one more replacement, for Major Rigby, or I can add Jim Tavy instead, which would solve two problems at once.

Jan - if you look at page 1 of this thread you will see Tavy has been in the squadron since mission 2, so it would be unfair to 'add him now' instead of a replacement for Rigby who belongs to Todd anyway - you will also note that Paul has 9 entries for his pilots, maybe due to the fact he only has one two seater crew (I don't know why that is but it would even up the pilot/crew numbers with his peers ie 10).
So, in conclusion, that is 4 players, 8 numbers each, 1 player 9 numbers total 41. 3 of those have been KIA and there were 3 replacements, making the total 44..... ?!

The No 52 Bulldog Squadron has 41 pilots and 9 observers/gunners.

    ...and a few Tripes.

It matters not whether there is a pilot only or a crew for the number in the roster. Each of us is supposed to have 8 active numbers in the roster. Not 9. Speaking of something being unfair, would it really be fair for the Bulldogs to have more numbers than the Eagles?

As for Tavy being in the roster since mission 2, as I have apparently not noticed it, maybe it would have been wise to tell me to add the pilot before the end of mission 6 already. I cannot scan every post and double check. Please, always let me know if you find any errors or omissions in the main roster.

The number of entries you have there Dave is not correct. 4 players x 8 entries is not 40, rather 32. We have 5 Bulldogs players, each with 8 entries, meaning 40 active entries.

I thought the campaign was supposed to be fun, not quarrels over rules and fairness or unfairness of one of the squadron having more men than it is supposed to have. :-(

    How should I say...

The Bulldogs short Squadron Roster is a possibility to give us a quick overview, about aerial victories, wounded comrades, ace abilities, etc...

That's a needful background information, to give our fallen comrades a "farewell", welcome new pilots, celebrate victories and post a few pictures to bring activity in this thread.

Again: Imagine, a blackboard in the Bulldogs briefing room with all pilot names and their status on it.

It's a stressful job, to keep a bigger statistics for the campaign activities, so I post the link to you site everytime I upgrade our blackboard. But I'm not the only one, who is responsible to refresh your roster.

    That's definitely not my problem.

Rob fights his mission always versus unknown pilots.
Dave didn't harm any Eagle pilots in mission 1 - 2.
Looking at the very first message in the thread, posted by Joaquim, we had 25 pilots and 5 gunners/observers with 3 players from the beginning.
    Todd fly Sopwith Triplanes
    You didn't use explosions in missions 1 - 4.
Andrzej uses limited ammo and C-damage for collisions
    ...

    Nobody cares!

Feel free to add a pilot or two to the Eagles roster. I'm shure it wasn't Paul's idea, smuggling an additional pilot in the roster to gain superiority over the Eagles.

    ...and please:Have fun!

Got an information from Joaquim. Evans is ready as soon he arrives at our airfield - means ready from mission 7 on.

Wrote Todd a PM to announce a replacement for POW Major Rigby.

Got to agree with Sven, Its a game and there are no winners or loosers in real terms. Apart from introducing something bizzare like a Spitfire or FW190 lets have a little leancy for adding a Tripe, Snipe or even dare I say it a DR VII Its all in the spirit of the game and Im sure no body is trying to cheat with the pilot list

A silent order of monks observed one ritual each year at Christmas. After the Festive meal, they were allowed to voice one sentence for that year. After the meal the Prior asked if there were any remarks. Brother Michael stood up.
"Prior! I think the gravy is too salty" he said and sat down.
A year passed and after the Christmas repast Brother Paul stood up. "I think the gravy is not salty enough he said", and resumed his seat.
A further year elapsed, and this time Brother Jude had a word to say." Well I think the gravy is just right", he said.
On the fourth year everyone was astounded when Brother Ambrose who was one of the most respected Monks in the Priory stood up. he had been a Brother for nearly sixty years, and had never spoken one word in that time.
"I'm leaving the Priory", he announced.
The Prior and the rest of the Monks were shocked to hear this news.
"May I ask why you are taking this drastic decision brother Ambrose", he asked.
"Because I can't stand all this arguing about the gravy", replied Ambrose.

Rob, we have a very diverse group of players here, from different countries and different social groups and we still get on with one another. Some tension is inevitable, some of us have quite different approaches to the game and the campaign. Thing is, we cannot just sit around a table and have a chat, our table is this forum and the chat are our posts.

I think we have always came to a conclusion and often a compromise acceptable for both sides without any bad blood. And that is just another thing that I am proud of for this group.

Well, Rob, I kind of did, since I am usually the one starting a discussion on rules and such stuff here.:embarass:

As for bringing Sopwith Snipes and Fokker D.VII's into the game, Paul, if this happens, I am withdrawing from the campaign immediately. It was said at the beginning that these two won't appear and that we would be supposed to use older types. Why so radical? Because their performance in comparison with the older 1917 planes would be gamebreaking and unfun. One of the reasons I joined the campaign was the fact that there won't be any Snipes and D.VII's involved and older planes could still be competetive. This was supposed to be a late 1917 campaign. Not late 1918. Therefore, my opinion is, that using Snipes and D.VII's would actually be strictly and directly against the spirit of the game, not within it. Or do you really want the campaign to go the monotonous route of Snipes versus D.VII's that is, sadly, so common in gaming groups and events? I don't...

EDIT: Nevertheless, I am having tons of fun with our campaign and I see that I must sound a bit too bitter. I am grateful for this group of players and for this whole online solo campaign project. Thank you for that, gentlemen.

    Exclamation

Whilst I am not involved in this campaign (but would have really loved to have been able to!)
may I be so bold as to add my "halfpenneth worth" to the Snipe & D.VII debate.
Yes these two Aircraft have NO place in a Mid War game & should only be introduced in late 1918 Games.
We do avoid using them at our games club & have a strict rule regarding acceptable Aircraft in the various scenarios we play.
Definately keeps the Fun & Enjoyment in the games.

    Steps down off large soapbox!
