Thread: Pacific Northwest-- Enfilade Registration Now Open

Default Pacific Northwest-- Enfilade Registration Now Open

Enfilade has opened preregistration for both attendance and events.
I plan on presenting a Bomber senario with targets for the bombers. I hope to have two flights of three by then.
We ran two events last year back to back and had good attendance. Most played in both games. But I was beat physically by the end so I am only going to do the one event.
If others in the region are planing on attending and hosting an event. We should touch bases so we can have avoid scheduling two events in the same time period.

Hey Tony - what day are you looking at hosting an event? I would love to play, and may only have one day that weekend to attend.

I will probably do a Saturday time slot. There are three gaming sessions. Afternoon appeals to me but I would like any input from other presenters so we can spread the fun.

Tony, I'm in if there's still room at the Red Lion and the con, and with luck my bombers will be too. Tell me what you want me to bring in planes and targets and I'll see what I can do with the available space.

    Gentlemen of the Pacific Northwest.

You are all reminded to bring your surplus aircraft, and any repaints you may be ready to offer in trade or sale, To Enfilade the end of May.

I plan on bringing several original WOW to trade.

calfaber: Should you decide to grace us with your presence I would be seriously interested in purchasing some of your repaints with my B&B proceeds.

    Sincerely,

    James

    Default 1ST event scheduled

Tonight I signed up a Bomber senario at Enfilade. Saturday timeblock "D" 2:00PM through 6:00PM It will accomodate 10 players. Last year I think we had about 12 or so. There is usually room for those who want to play. I made some targets from some 1/285 buildings so the Bombers will be droping their payloads if they get that far. I will have 5 big birds available. 3 Gothas and 2 Fredies. I will try to split the scouts evenly with two lucky guys flying the Bombers.
Lets get some additional games up and going.
Jim D. (and others I guess) what time are you going to be at the event. We could just do some informal flying. There is usually some space available somewhere.

I'll be attending this year. I'm willing to setup 1 game. I'll shoot for Saturday AM. We played an early war senario that was a lot of fun. Eindekkers & Halberstadts going after a Caudron G4 escorted by Gunbusses and FE2bs. Since I have access to 4 Eindekkers & 1 Halberstadt plus 1 Caudron, 2 Gunbus & 2 FE2bs, it looks like a 5 on 5 game.
I'll try to get the game scheduled this weekend.

This was posted on the NHMGS Enfilade thread. It is by Chris Bauermeister

Re: Ok, who's putting on a wings of war(glory) game at Enfilade this year?

    Cool, thanks Tony -

I think I'm planning on something a little more introductory, even kid-friendly,
though I'm working on some Shapeways early war planes to make it a bit
    interesting

Thinking about maybe in the Saturday or Sunday morning slot

    Tim,
Go to the Enfilade home page. You will have to create an account to either preregister or to submit a game. Once you have logged in you can select to see registered games. (you don't have to submit anything it just gets you in the door) I just checked and mine has been added to the event schedule.(the only WOW/WOG so far) They are on top of updating the events. I would like to see more WOW/WOG events to mix it up a bit. The early war stuff would be nice considering the upcomming release of planes. Maybe check with Chris Bauermeister (thought my last name was tough) over on NHMGS I am not sure he comes here. Maybe to combine forces or work out timing. However it works out I am looking forward to playing.

    Default 2nd Event scheduled

Chris Bauermeister has signed on for the Sat AM time slot with an early war dogfight game.
So we now have two registered events. Nothing Sat evening or Fri or Sunday. I will be there sometime Friday afternoon. We are driving up from the Columbia gorge area after visiting friends there. We can try to have some improptu games (any free time) if anyone wants.

See you there. Hopefully Tim from Oregon "Pooh" will put on a game. Maybe a tournament on Sat night. I have a prize that was donated last year that we could give. I can also bring planes.
You out there Tim any thoughts?

I am getting very interested in attending the con. It's about a thousand mile drive up the coast from me, but only an hour from where my daughter and son-in-law live. While I've gone to Gencons and other large cons, Enfilade looks to be much smaller. Is there room/time for pickup games? Can you get in on some of the other games easily or is it a matter of "the same old people wanting to play the same old people"?

Hi Patrick, There are seven gaming sessions through the weekend and every game posted has vacancies that can only be filled by signup right before the session starts. There are always a few vacant tables for pick up games through out the weekend where gamers throw down a new game or just a couple guys wanting to hash out small battle. We look forward to seeing you!

Hi Patrick, my name's Al Rivers and I'm the enfilade Reg Desk lead. Being a little biased, I think Enfilade is a great Convention to attend. It is a very friendly con. GMs run a variety of historical games and newbies/young ones are welcome. Many GMs have an adjustible player count. Most gamers and GMs are pretty laid back. Since we are fairly small compared to the big East coast and LA cons we think we make up for it in flexibility and welcoming. We usually fill up all our game slots, but there is always the last minute cancellation and there is usually open tables on Sunday for pick up. If you would like, please contact me oofline if you want to ask more. My e-mail is alrivers13@comcast.net. Look forward to seeing you at Enfilade! Welcome.

Is there a site besides this one http://www.nhmgs.org/enfilade.html that lists what the games are? While I am looking forward, mainly to WoG, back in the 70's (yes I am that old) I played a variety of miniature wargames and I'd like to see about trying some out to see how things have changed.

Thanks for the comment Tony, I really appreciate it. I noted a few spelling/etc errors though. must have had a senior moment. LOL. I also forgot to say don't forget to Pre-reg at http://enfilade.gamecon.us/reg/ . You are gauranteed a refund if you cannot come for any reason! No Risk! You also can then go to the PEL and pre-reg for 1 game and then another at the desk when you check in. The partial PEL is up now. Hope to see you, Patrick and anyone else interested in gaming at a great Con!

Have to call 'em and ask. If you have a AAA card, you might ask 'em about the AAA rate also and go with whichever's cheaper.

    Gentlemen,

Things are looking good for WOW/WOG at Enfilade this year and several sessions will have games available. The tournement is scheduled saturday night. Not having participated in the WOW
gaming at Enfilade last year would someone post the rules level that will be used in the tourny? Basic, advanced, elevation rules etc ?

Having played locally with most of the GM's running the smaller events, I can assume many of them will be basic rules in order to fascilitate recruiting for the various air corps.

I spoke with Bill Huges tonight. He is on vacation in Florida (lucky guy). The Tourney will pit the same aircraft against both participants. It will have a specific time length. If shot down you loose otherwise damage points determine the winner. It will be a double elimination format. It would appear that Bill has wrangled some support (in the form of aircraft) from Ares. Not privey to the total comitment but should be a reward for the lucky winners. Bill likes to play with altitude rules so it wouldn't supprize me if they are used. Shouldn't be anything trickey, just play to win.

    James,
I can only speak for myself. I use the KISS method. No altitude rules (unless experienced players which is unlikely). I usually pull the explosion cards from the damage decks. When you are shot down you wait a turn and respawn.
To me its about having fun with a simple easy to learn rule set wile playing with cool toys.

Here's Bill's flyer he posted to another group.

    Greetings,

This is just an announcement to let everyone who can make it to Lacey,
Washington, USA, Memorial Day weekend that there will be several Wings events to
participate in. Sign up early as I am sure that spaces will fill up quick.
There will be a bombing session midday Saturday and a fighter session early
Saturday if I am not mistaken, a possibly Friday night session, an open table
for flying and learning, and get ready..... a double elimination tournament
    Saturday evening.

The really great thing about the Tournament is that Ares Games is providing
prize support so dust of your goggles and showup to see who the best and
luckiest flier is; who then will pick their prizes. The prize list will be
provided later but you should know there will be multiple winners, and the
prizes to choose from will include WWI bombers, WWII fighters, a boxed set and
    more.

Lets show everyone exactly what the enthusiasm level is for this game and have
some fun while we are doing it. Our game is alive and it is now time to shoot
someone down. A great turn out will let Ares Games know how much we appreacite
what they have done for this event and for our hobby.

I hope to see you there. I will be updating this message as we near the date.

    Take care
    Bill
Ares/Nexus has been very generous with their prize support so I hope a lot of people can attend. I've seen the bombers and fighters but haven't received word on the boxed set. From what I remember there won't be any altitude rules but I'll try to get him to register here for any questions. In the meantime I can forward any comments to him.

Hi gang I should have joined ages ago. Just to let everyine know if I am not mistaken I have requested a space for Friday evening for WWI as many who can sho up, Saturday AM for WWII for 8 fliers. Saturday miday for WWI overflow or WWII if TOny runs out for room in his scenarios. As well as practice for the Tournament Saturday PM. It will be a double elimination so I really need to know how many are plannig to be there so I can lay out the schedule.

We have great prizes provided by Ares Games that I was able to arrange for. We have 4 differetn WWI bombers and 8 WWII fighters to give as prize support. Also Tony may be contibruting a Jane Fighting Aircraft fo WWI and there may be a second copy as well.

I look forward to seeing as many as I can. I will be doing cseveral event simulatanteously and Doug and I and Josh who was there a couple years ago and a couple more may show up. This will be a lot of fun and I am really happy that ARES has provided such wonderful prize support.

    Take best of care
    Bill

Default Be still my fluttering heart! Reviresco is having a sale at Enfilade!

Johns response to my post "In defense of wargaming past"

Hey Jimmy!: There is one thing no wife can ignore and that is a SALE! Reviresco is having an aircraft kit sale at Enfilade ----- 15% discount on all aircraft and decal orders over $30 net. Because your order is an Enfilade sale it qualifies for the discount. So tell her this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. ('cause it is --- have you ever known me to throw a sale?) We will also have a buy three get one free deal on tanks and armored cars. Plus we will have other sales popping up on our tables during the show. So let her know that you just gotta have some bucks to spend.

    John McEwan

In my 42 years of wargaming here in the Pacific Northwest this has never occured! Of course, my daughter just popped in from college and needed $300 for some contacts and food, so guess where the available cash came from....
