I voted 'yes', but 'I will be' would be a more accurate answer MDF just doesn't do much as far as a landscape goes...

I answered no as I have 3 x WoW mats which I like useing. Two for 1917 and onwards and 1 for Early War (1915) as with the slow speeds I find that you do not need anything bigger!

I also answered no. But I do intend to make some cosmetic amendments to my games mat if I ever get the time.

I am running my first game this weekend using fabric (one mottled green for sea and another mottled green for land). On the fabric, I am placing printed cardstock hangars, barracks, and other structures relevant for the scenario.

I answered no. I have a couple of the WoW mouse pads...errr....game mats, I mean. If I had a dedicated gaming table I would consider doing a painted/finished surface.

Voted no: I use two custom-made (also known as self-created) gaming mats measuring 90 cm x 90 cm and 120 cm x 120 cm. However I do use 3D scenery which has been adapted from N Gauge train scenery. Got this idea from playing Bolt Action before Wings of Glory / War. Mostly consisting of trees and shrubs - see photo.

I'm a No too. I'd love a big blowup aerial photo of the trenches but the budget only ran to 4 yards of "digital" cameo cloth which actually works quite well from a distance....if you squint....and don't clean your glasses for a while.

I have the three latest ARES mats but I also am slowly working on some mats of my own. One land and one ocean. Nothing complex or detailed, just something different to fly over.

I have made me a gaming mat from an aireal photo over the town where I work.
It works well even if there are some 21th century items on it.

Voted YES! Bought some 2/1 metres artificial grass mats and painted them: one with the trench line which we badly need for WGF games (official mats lack it) and one for BoB WGS. Must say I had a great time painting them.

This is an old stuff I made 2-3 years ago, but they work fine.

    I voted no.

I use Wings of Glory mats, and/or Wings of War mats, for this game, and have large felt cloths for my other games:
    blue (1/700 WW2 Pacific, 1/2400 WW1 North Sea)
    green (1/300 WW2 Russian Front)
    yellow (1/300 WW2 Desert)
    brown (28mm Wild West)
    black (Full Thrust space games)

If I had to paint game boards, I'd never have time to paint minis!

I voted No, because I have 6 Wings of Glory gaming mats.

I have purchased printable "cling" paper, so I can add my own modifications: landing strip, No Man's Land, that sort of chap.
I haven't actually got round to trying that yet, so I've no idea if it works.

I'd say you were truly grassed up there Andy, as one mat is a bit watered down.unlike my G&T.

Must confess to lagging on the mat from, I only have three of the original Wings of War mats - bought the original two when they were current, and received third as a very much appreciated gift from Tim.
Pocket money hasn't stretched to acquiring the new ones yet, although looking to sell off large 15mm WW2 Flames of War German army which will if successful fund new mats and new ships

I did a couple of low relief trench system mats a couple of years ago but these days I just us the official ones most of the time as they are more easily transportable.

I can highly recommend Hotz's desert felt mat without hexes I used during the last Prague Con.

I also have one of these mats curtsey of Andy, and would not use anything else for my Western Desert missions.

Yes I've painted my table blue for water and have also painted some small tables. I had one table painted for me by a friend.

I use a pair of folding tables with an old Army blanket tossed over the top- good color, cheap, portable, washable, just the right amount of friction (so flight stands do not just slide around) and adds a bit of cushion on the elbows.
