Posted over in the Yahoo News Group was this. I repost it here as some of you might not have seen the event. It's pretty neat to see some of the new planes, and the Zep... Plus, as an added bonus... they're playing on my map!!!

Sunday, February 5 Ludica Apuana the fledgling Association (ALA) has organized a new tournament WWI Wings of Glory, this time inspired by the movie "Young Eagles" (Flyboys), retracing those three scenarios are the most spectacular battles recounted in the film.
The only craft allowed, the Fokker Dr.I triplanes for the Central Powers and the Nieuport 17 of the "mythical" Lafayette Squadron for the Allies, forcing players to utilize all their flying skills to fly those planes that are agile, but fragile and therefore not suitable for long fights.

In the first scenario, the two squadrons clashed in the skies above the trenches of the front in a classic dogfight: each plane could fly free to share and each rider had a special ability, after an hour and a half of fighting tight and without exclusion of shots, we had a substantive equality.

The second scenario involved a bombing mission and fotoricognizione by two German Gotha bombers escorted by Jasta (Squadron) of the Fokker on strategic allies against the Nieuport were to intercept the enemy before it could wreak havoc on those who were supplies vital for the troops.
Despite the German fighters were able to breach the barrage balloons, and have engaged the enemy aircraft in duels to the death, the mission has failed with the demolition of a damaged Gotha and the other: the ground offensive Empires could be opposed on the ground thanks to the value of the knights of the air.

A Zeppelin in all its frightening amount entered the scene in the third scenario: after bombing London, the Germans aim to repeat in Paris to give a tremendous blow to the morale of the French people too.
Oblivious of the risks they ran and losses, the young American riders hurl themselves on the huge airship finally managed to make it precipitate engulfed in flames (virtuali!) until the end pursued by German fighters. Paris is saved!

As on previous occasions, the day was held in a friendly atmosphere, aided by the fact that this time was not provided a final ranking: all players have been rewarded with a plane offered by the ALA.
The organization wanted was a day of fun and games without the hassle of having to make points to finish first: we think we succeeded.
We look forward to the next opportunity: first we look at other films!
Here are the names of the participants:
    Andrea Russo (GE)
    George Russo (GE)
    Robert Bagna (SP)
    Stefano Palandri (PT)
    Emanuele Babbini (Carrara MS)
    Mark Perfetti (MS)
    Andrea Perfetti (MS)
    Alexis Fini (MS)
    Patrons Paul (MS)
    Nicola Guidoni (MS)
    Sergio Massa (MS)

Simultaneously two other tournaments were held, which saw a large participation from all over Tuscany: a Warhammer Fantasy Battle event ever by ALA and one of OldSubbuteo organized by the Friends of Old Subbuteo Club Apuania.
