Nice little Book - but the information about the Pfalz Dr. I is a little confusing, I think!
The Pfalz Dr. I was built after a specification from IdFlieg for a Triplane and was later converted to a Biplane (Pfalz D.VII and D.VIII).
On the other side, when Anthony Fokker heard about the interest of IdFlieg about a triplane Fighter (he was not suplied with the specifications from IdFlieg) he converted the Fokker D.VI-Prototype (Factory designation - not a prototype of the later D.VI-fighter) that was under construction for the A-H Luftfahrttruppen to a triplane. Because the welded steeltube-fuselage was relative easy to convert he was one of the first to present a triplane.
The Pfalz Dr. I had the best climb-rate of the german fighters in WW I but was to slow as a fighter plane, like the Dr. I witch production ended, when the Pfalz Dr. I entered frontline trials.
The Pfalz D.III Triplane conversion was built to find out the better performance of triplane and biplane. The plane showed better climb-ability in the biplane version (middle wing removed) because of airflow interference between the wings.

Thank you Matthias!
Kampfflieger,
Thanks for all your excellent efforts in 'print'.

Some of those are **** Dastardly and Muttley worthy, but that Sikorsky looks intriguing.
Fantastic! Thank you Roman.

Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!

Thank you very much Kampfflieger: this is much appreciated!
Care to share what you've found out about the Roland D.XVI's performance?
Is this file still available for download? I'd love to read it, but the link seems to be dead.

Same for me to, only getting a black page, pity. Must drop Roman a direct line to see if he will resurrect the link.
See you on the Dark Side......
I too get a blank page when I click on the link.
Another neat thing about the Lost Eagles book is that there is a 1/72 scale cardmodel of the Osterreichische Aviatik 30.40 on the last page.
A single prototype of the monoplane Aviatik 30.40 was made during the summer of 1918.
If you can't get this I downloaded the PDF.
Drop me your emails and I'll pass it on, it was free so no copyright as far as I am aware
I also got a BLANK PAGE, is it possable to get a copy emailed or uploaded in files?
