Thread: Some targets for that coastal mission

Default Some targets for that coastal mission

I found this great German torpedo boat papermodel for free. All pdf files for a waterline and a full hull model are there. It is in 1/200 scale but i guess it is easy to scale in 1/144 if you got an A3 format printer (or US equivalent).

It would work fine with coastal scenarios including that beautiful Felixtowe model and some Hansa-Brandenburgs.

There is also a lightship and a 1/700 HMS Dreadnougth in the downloads section also.

Thanks, Svend. This will be awesome to build.

I find 200 scale ships give a good representation of being attacked from slightly higher altitude, such as a torpedo run.
My German Sub is in 200 scale. The difficulty is finding Capital ships in that size.

Try scaling up the 1/700 HMS Dreadnought in the link above? I guess with something that large you'd either have to look at using heavier cardstock or some sort of internal bracing for the large voids like the hull.

I would suggest printing the model on thin paper sheets and then use Photo mount (from 3M, removable spray glue) to fix the paper onto styrene sheets .. then cut it normally with scissors or pen knife, removing the paper parts and using the styrene (Such as: http://www.hobbylinc.com/model_scrat...s_tubes_strips )for the build. Takes the same amount of effort but is much more durable and you can use thicker sheets for the hull and deck. Fittings can be made from rods, strips and tubes.
