Thread: Does anybody else...

    Default Does anybody else...

Does anybody else, paint kill markings on the side of their aicraft?

I record the ammount of kills I get in a game. IF my bi-plane (either a SPAD 13 or a Snipe) survives, I proceed to carefully paint the kill markings on the side of the plane.

    My Snipe (Baker) has 3

And my SPAD (See my Avatar) has none

Did piolts do this in WW1? (I know they did WW2> but what about WW1?)

    Cheers, Ash

I like the SPAD avatar, is that the scheme you are going to repaint with?

As far as I know none of the WW1 pilots did kill markings, I certainly don't recall any images of such things.

Thank you, sir, and yes I already have painted it. I have a picture of it in my albums.

One or two pilots did put kills on aircraft Ash, and I only do it on planes where they were known to do it. There is a thread on here somewhere which mentions this but I can't find it at the moment.

I usally cut the roundel or a/c # from the fuselage. Its difficult at this scale, and hasn't earned me any points with my opponents, but its totally worth it!

No, but I think I will start ASAP. Thanks for the idea.

It was extremelt rare in WW1 for pilots to mark their Aircraft with "Kill Markings"
Seems it really took off in WW2.
