    Default Zeppelin Staaken R.VI

    I'm looking for historical stats on the climb rate and speeds at different altitudes. I very interested in these altitudes:

    Sea level
    1000m
    2000m
    3000m
    4000m
    5000m

    Sea level = 135km/h
    1000m = 10min
    2000m = 23min
    3000m = 43min
    4320m = ?

    Thanks for all the stats Daniel. What sources are you pulling them from? Is it a single book with multiple stats on different aircraft?

    "The German Giants - The story of the R-planes 1914-1919" by G. W. Haddow & Peter M. Grosz from 1962 gives the following:

    Maximum speed 130 km/h (80.8 mph)
    1000m - 11 min
    2000m - 27 min
    3000m - 55 min
    3800m - 150 min (Ceiling)

    R.VI with 4 x 245 hp Maybach Mb.IVa engines:

    Maximum speed 135 km/h (83.9 mph)
    1000m - 10 min
    2000m - 23 min
    3000m - 43 min
    4320m - 146 min (Ceiling)

    R.VI 30/16 with 4 x 260 hp Mercedes D.IVa engines and a 120 hp Mercedes D.II driving a supercharger:

    Maximum speed 160 km/h (99.4 mph)
    1000m - 10 min
    2000m - 24 min
    3000m - 35 min
    5900m - 102 min (Ceiling)

    That is a fantastic book that I can recommend!

    Yes but you don't need to understand German. The introduction is in four languages including English. There is a short description of each of the planes festured as pictures in german.
    The stats for all 408 planes are given in german but there is a short lexicon in four languages including English for the given stats. For example Geschwindigkeit = Speed, etc.
