Thread: COLBATMAN's Prototype Smoke & Flame Markers.

Lightbulb COLBATMAN's Prototype Smoke & Flame Markers.

    G'day Chaps!
Col asked me to post some pics of a project he started last night.
These are the first efforts & knowing Col they will just get better & better.
He started with a magnet & glued it to a strip of thin plasticard & thenglued some teased Kapok to the strip, sprayed black & drybrushed the red & orange highlights.
MK2 will try some thin cardbord for lighter weight & maybe a thin wire to hold up the Kapok. He will try some Brown & Grey added to the Black Smoke.

I reckon they look Awesome & they attach to the Magnet under the Gimble Ball so actually looklike the plane itself is Smoking.

Please let us know what you think. It only took Col about an Hour to do the first ones.Click image for larger version.

I am suitably impressed. The consept of the magnetic attachment makes the system most attractive. The artwork goes without saying. Well done Col, and thanks for posting them Barry.

Working on prototype 2, to attach the device I am gluing a small round magnet, used and issued in 40K and FOW models(sometimes!). One problem is the magnet luvs the gimbal magnet, if you can attach to the ball bearing everything sits great. Otherwise the device can tend to 'droop' downwards, I figure a very thin projection on the plasticard frame that will clip under the wing and solve the problem. Naval Wargaming ideas converted to Ariel. This all came about as Aerodrome accessories are not available and Litko does nothing for me! I hope this has been an aid to some, although I may be 'teaching a global granny to suck eggs!' Our UK friends will know what I mean!

    Regards

    Col
