What makes a Con? And does Donnie qualify?

It being the 10th aniversary of the Doncaster meeting I was wondering if it would now quailfy for Con Status?

Unsure what a meet has to do to be declared a Con but,

if its numbers who attend, on average 25 I think,

International players. Ticks that box

, Longevity another tick.

More than a single day Tick

Prizes awarded.

Included as a Lend Lease Venue .

Great historical venue

Need I go on!!

Surely the powers that be must recognise Donnie as the only other European Con and give it the recognition it deserves.

As it is mainly a Wings convention, and with all you list, I would agree it should get the recognition it deserves. As far as Wings is concerned this is a major event, not merely a minor con in my opinion.

I believe that every 'con' currently allows the public to have a go at playing. This would be my criteria for calling it a con. As we all know, Donnie doesn't meet that criteria.

Well Rob some of recognition for all your hard work and those around you have put in over the years to keep the event running.

That is a very kind sentiment Paul. As for myself I don't give a monkeys, Im a retired officer after all, but for the rest of the team who actually do all the work, I agree, it would be great to give them some form of recognition. the same can be said for Prague with a much smaller team of dedicated organisers.
I think that medals are a no starter, as I still can't seem to get the ones for our two Major Cons that Mike, OldGuy59 designed for us three years ago, and they are approved and just waiting for someone to be able to get them up on site.
However, if anyone can come up with a good idea for these chaps recognition, I would like to hear from you.

It’s the biggest event in the U.K. (although We have had some large games at Games Expo) and pre dates Prague.
Think it’s a pretty major event and we do have our own medals... not sure what else we need.
