I think Dave went in to hospital yesterday, so probably either had the op then or is having it today. Either way, all the best, buddy, and hope the op is 100 per cent successfull and that the recovery period is quick and relatively free of discomfort.

The oldest incarnation is the most recent one. The Black Vagabond along with Mad Wullie Snapcase and Dashing Dougie Douglas went reiving in the Scots/English borders in the 1500's. The weather turned bad, it snowed and they got lost on the moors. Coming down from the hill they raided a farmstead and ran off with 29 sheep. It continued to snow and the sheep dog that had taken with them wasn't very good and so by the time they came to Devils Ford and recognised where they were, the flock was down to 4 sheep.
That's also when they realised that it was an Armstrong farm they'd raided. At that time the Armstrong's could put 3,000 men into the field and the Snappers, Douggers amd Vaggers clan of Broken Men could manage about 30 so it would be a close run thing if it came to a fight.
Anyway to cut a long story short, there were 3 Armstrong's guarding the ford, so we ran the sheep at them and followed up with pistol and sword, killing or wounding them all. To make sure they couldn't inform their kin who had done it, we slit the throats of the wounded and went on home, unfortunately loosing 3 more of the sheep on the way.
Two days later the Armstrong's turned up in our valley looking for...you guessed it, sheep, but by then we'd eaten the evidence and were able to convince them we had nothing to do with it.
We need more sheep to get us through the winter but will raid some smaller families farmstead next time.

Interesting you should mention MI6 because there was a Major (Rtd) John Vagabond known to be in Jamjharistan believed to be working for MI6 between the wars, I wonder if that's your Captain Vagabond. I'll keep an eye out for him in my travels.

Indeed, on reflection there was an a German contingent in Jamjharistan at the same time, the officers name was something like Hu Rhu a good old fashioned Prussian name if ever there was one. If my aged memory serves me correctly he had a magic carpet or maybe a dirigible to fly around in, I've not seen the bounder since and so I expect he's resting indolently on his family estate somewhere in Prussia.

Basically it's a cervical stenosis myelopathy, or, in layman terms a disc in my neck had prolapsed and was pressing on my spinal cord causing me referred arm and leg pain issues.
Look it up and be frightened, we all have it to greater or lesser degrees I'm told. This was one of three they could fix but the other two are less trouble at the moment.

I hope not in the literal sense Dave. Did they fuse the vertebrae or insert plastic discs to replace the damaged ones?We will just about cope in the mess until you can pick up the pieces.

They take the disc out (discectomy), Paul, insert what they call a LEGO ('cos that's what it looks like) which contains stuff that grows onto and fuses the two vertebrae together. All is pinned in place with a plate and Screws. I can still turn my head, so can check my six but just have to do it slowly for now ! No neck brace.
All pretty good so far.

All sounds pretty horrible to me. Just very glad it is working out ok for you Dave.
Meanwhile, this is one OTT pain in the neck that's going to be out of the office for a while. I'll try to keep in touch over the coming weeks but will not be able to do the March Mission until we get back.

Mission 2 is ready but I'll wait until Thursday - Leap Day - to post. It will be challenging - especially for the Brits (Entente), but it is Bloody April after all. The only give away is "balloons" since I finally got my WoG balloons.

PS So far so good with my sister in law, whose op went wrong. She's not yet out of the woods but the immediate crisis seems to have blown over. Still don't know when we shall go to Holland to see her, but not in the next couple of weeks a least - I think!

I am not a participant in these campaign, but I find the AARs interesting reading.
Will next year's campaign feature the Gallant Young Men and the year following Heroic Young Men? I have no idea what to use for the year after that.

I reckon I just aged another ten years. OTT FYM Mission 3 is up and running. I've only managed three turns so far, after playing some yesterday and all afternoon today - and I'm already knackered
That said, fewer than 13 aircraft and just one mission, not two (or so it seems to me) on the table at once next time would be appreciated, no matter how interesting this one is
