    Default Vapnartak 2024

We have once again been extended an invite to put on a little something at the York Show.

    Sunday, 4th February
    1000-1700 (access from 0800)
    Knavesmire Stand
    York Racecourse
    YO23 1EX

    Who’s in?

I’ll be asking asking for our usual tables up on the 2nd Mazzanine.

So, what do we want to play?

Unless anyone else wants to do something with WGS, I will run
    my Dambusters Raid (Participation).

Is there anything specific you want me to bring along (coz I'll have to dig it out from under other stuff in the next couple of days!)?

    Well that was fun.
Huge thanks to Tim (Flying Helmut) and Neil (Lt. S. Kafloc) for their help running the WW1 table and to Simon (Strangely Brown) and Garry (The Red Dragon) for their sterling work on the Dambusters themed WW2 table. Both tables were pretty busy all day. Good way to start this years set of shows.

The WW1 table set up to play the '20 Minuters' game. A smattering of DH.2's and FEs against Albatross D.IIs led by Von Richthofen himself.

Good even scrap, although not for me, pilot wound and damaged engine forced the Red Baron to retreat from the fray. I didn't realise the Germans were winning by 1 point until I decided to limp back home giving the RFC an additional point and coming out with a draw.

Game two we decided to speed things up so added a few Spad VII's into the mix, SPEEEED
    Gotta love a Spad VII

Third game we went for a balloon busting run with Bristol Fighters and a Camel trying to down three German balloons before they got winched down, all the while trying to avoid the attentions of some scrambled Fokker D.VII's. Great fun game...

It was a close run thing, the RAF lost two Brisfits and the Camel. First Balloon caught fire early on and went down quite quickly, the second one got a boom card that managed to take out one of the Brisfits as well.

The 3rd Balloon got down to level one (i.e. one turn before it was safe) when my lone Surviving Bristol came screaming in hotly pursued by a dogged D.VII flown by a wounded but determined (I've claimed six kills today) Tim (Flying Helmut). I had 1 HP left... I fire at the balloon at long range... BOOM, the balloon is down with ONE card left to play in the game.

Tim fires.. and misses, my rear gunner returns fire causing a second pilot wound and dropping him... so having shot Neil down earlier (another boom card) my tally for the game was two and a half balloons and two Fokker D.VIIs and home in time for tea and crumpets !!!

Had a go at the Dambuster mission. Fantastic. Dropped the trashcan, bounce 1, bounce 2, bounce 3........crap short but could still cause damage, nope big fat 0 on the chit!

Love the system, love the searchlights, managed to dodge them on the move after 'bombs away' called. Jinky P for Poppsy gets away, although I failed to hit the Dam!
