Anyone have any experience with F-toys 1/144 scale planes, such as this: (this is not my listing, nor am I affiliated with them in any way…just using it as an example)

Yes I have a few. They are good models. That price is pretty good for these rare birds.
They are nicely modeled planes. A couple of pieces to attach with a spot of glue and you have a quality plane. I prefer their Frommherz over the Ares offering.
I'm surprised a certain gentleman over this side of the pond hasn't already bought it at that price
Oi!
I resemble that remark!
I have a couple of dozen of them - as Darryl said, simply glue the tail piece on (horizontal stabiliser for the Albatros D.III, vertical fin for the SPAD XIII) and away you go.
I drilled a small hole in the fuselage underside, and inserted a small tapered length of cocktail stick to accept the Wings flight peg.
Their proportions are very nice, and they scrub up well......
The 3 Albatros D.IIIs are much more sleek and shark-like than the fat, stubby 'Ares' models.
The 3 SPAD XIIIs are even nicer (the Albatros wings are almost always glued on a little bit "skewed" vis-a-vis the fuselage).
I would snap these planes up, if I were you - they are getting rare, and others will grab them if you don't! (not me; I've got enough already)
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
My word, Tim! The work you create is fantastic...sending all my planes to you to paint, decal, and detail. I heard you would do that for free for me.
Glad you like 'em, Jan and Darryl.
As for taking on more planes for repainting.......
'Fraid not.
Nice try, though

But worth the effort!
