Thread: Origins 2022!

  1. #1

    Default Origins 2022!

The Origins Game Fair starts tomorrow, Wednesday the 8th.

If anyone is on the fence, get off and join in the fun. We have a full schedule of Wings games (and 2 Sails) from Wednesday noon through Sunday.

Hope to see a few of our members there. We'll post photos when we can.

As usual I am looking forward to your reports Peter.
I hope all of you will have a good one, and if there are any Sails games please try and get a few shots for the Anchorage.

I guess Origins 2022 was a black hole. Players go in, but photos and AARs do not come out.
So how many books are in your personal library?

My guess is that they are/were REALLY busy - that was a packed game schedule!

Either that, or it was a legendary night in the Mess!

Just got home a couple hours ago. Yes we had a packed schedule, esp. Peter, who ran the most games (such a surprise).
I'll be working on my AARs Wednesday; Peter will need a couple days to get home. We'll have to see about the rest of the GMs.
Most of us return to even fuller (non-gaming) schedules
Initial report: Despite a number of complications from the organizers GAMA, not Ares or the GMs), things went fairly well.
All the players seemed to have a great time. The invitational went off very well: many, many thanks to Jim and Peter. Matt would have been pleased.

Something's on FB, but I understand it - when you're there, you're focused on real world (of tiny airplanes, that's true) and presentation is somewhere very deep on the the list of priorities. I'm sure they'll come in next week

Well I ran one game Thursday and one Friday.

The Thursday game was Nieuport 28's vs Fokker DVIII's
had 10 people play and they seemed to have fun.

Just got back tonight and getting some much-needed rest
I had a blast and it was fun putting faces to names and playing in so many games! Games were run very well and I enjoyed each that I was able to play. I don't know how Peter does it - running 10 games would be exhausting - I tapped out on a couple and I was only playing
Ares was giving $5 credit to participants for each game played so I was able to snag a couple Morane-Saulnier Type N and an SE5a, I forgot to spend my other credits lol. The booth seemed to be getting decent traffic the few times I visited.

Here are some pics to tide you over until the real deal. I regret not having any pics of an unofficial Battlestar Galactica game that Peter, Robert, and I played, but I appreciated Peter teaching us the game and then killing us.

If any game organisers have players they wish to award medals, please Pm me with the details and level of medal to award and I will see to it. Also if you know of anyone other than malachi who played in the Sails game I would also like to know.
    Thanks.

Got home a couple hours ago, whew! 13+ hour drive isn't for the faint of heart but well worth it. It may take me a while to get up AARs for the games I ran but I will do so as soon as I can.

I hope others took photos of their games and post them. Karl ran 4, Glenn 2, Bill 2, Ray 3 and Jim 4, so there should be a few photos coming. I know Ray already has posted on facebook. I plan to put mine there as well after posting here.

It was another fun blast of Wings, Tripods and Sails for the 5 days of Origins. Saturday night we ran the 1st Harry(Mat) P Materne Memorial Tournament. ARES gave us a number of planes as prizes and Jim added in a few more so no one went away empty handed. Top prize of a Handley Page 0/400 went to Thomas! There was a small hole in the box so I offered to keep it if it was beneath him to except a flawed prize, but he being ever the gentleman excepted and ran off with it under his arm.

A big thanks to all the game masters and participants for upholding the spirit of good gaming etiquette and supplying abundant amounts of humor. I can't measure how much I enjoyed myself.

Hi Guus. Yes, the T.Vs and C.Vs and C.X are the Geromy ones you got for me. I'll get the AAR up later today for this one. The Fokker XXIs are AIM and Shapeways.

Holland 1940 AAR is up 'HERE'. Game 1 of 9 I ran along with a 2 hour teaching session split 1 hour each for both WGF and WGS.

Malachi (Chris Weaver) flew in his first Origins game but somehow evaded the camera. We'll get to see him later on so you can put a face to the name.Click image for larger version.

On the way home I spent over an hour sitting here, just out of reach of happiness. There was an accident up ahead that closed the highway. Took quite a while before the log jam could get to the next exit and be re-routed. Just not what I needed when desperately needing to get to my hotel and hit the rack.
