    Found this great pic with a view from underneath.
    I reckon its an Avenger.

    When you think about it, that is a pretty big bomb bay to have on a single engined plane. Admittedly, it had to be that size to fit a torpedo in.

    Certainly helped make it a decent bomb carrier as well; one reason they started cutting back on dive bombers on the carriers was the Avenger's versatility.

    Also why the _Avenger_ spawned so many variants postwar -- take out the torp/bomb bay, and one can pack all manner of stuff in there....

    Was thinking of that one, but couldn't recall if it was in-war, or post-war only.
