Thanks for posting the link.
I was interested to see F4F Wildcats and/or FM2s returning with their drop tanks still attached - until now I always assumed they used the drop tank fuel first, then jettisoned them.
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!
So did I , or at least jettisoned them in combat.

Might be that they were just CAP, so didn't see combat.

Good point Karl

Also: Bringing a tank back meant one more tank one had on-hand, as opposed to having to get one from the UNREP ship.
Those Wildcats were tough - did you see the hole in that wing?
Thanks for that was nice to see!
Just out of curiosity did anyone fly in CFSII and try their carrier take offs and landings? I found them tricky but not as tricky as those in IL2 Pacific Fighters. I think I still have both of those titles in my cupboard somewhere. I wonder if they will load on Windows 10
Great find, Paul.
Can't wait for more WGS Pacific theater planes, like the Corsair, F6F & the P38...

Remember they did see combat as CAP. Okinawa is a great example of what they did to protect the fleet and carriers. Not sure by what you mean by just CAP. If I remember right there was an Avenger that was a CAP plane and shot down 3 Japanese planes attacking the fleet. Not sure of the battle.

He means, that these individual filmed aircraft may have flown around as overhead protection, awaiting orders to intercept incoming attackers, but then returned to their carriers when their fuel ran low and no attacks materialised.
I doubt that these few minutes of footage are intended to represent every CAP mission ever flown....................

Sorry but there was mention of Drop Tanks. If they were CAP they would not need drop tanks since they were close to the carrier they were protecting. I know that the P-51's that flew escort missions did drop their tanks. I see what you mean though about the film. Short shots of planes landing.
That HELLDIVER looks pretty beat up.
