    Default Colours 2017 - Newbury 16th Sept

Colours 2017 is a superb one day show being held on Saturday 16th September at Newbury Race Course, Berkshire RG147NZ.
    http://www.nrwc.org.uk/colours-2017

This clashes with a certain national weekend event being held at Doncaster but if you're one of the few not going to that event and you fancy a day out at one of the south's premiere wargame events then please come and join Ajay and myself at the table at Colours to fly WGF and keep the 'drome flag flying at this event.

(A pic from the 2015 event).

I will post further details as and when I get them - cheers Dave

Good to hear Neil, if you can make it before ten that would be fine, you'll get free entry. It will be good to meet you again.

We should be getting a 12'x5' table, and we have six entries to 'man' it, hope to be there by half nine at the latest.

Looks very much like the set up for York - in the racecourse stand. Such a shame it is beyond the range of my drop tanks.

Also, you'll be rather busy in Doncaster that weekend

Subsiding on the sofa with a belly full of curry, just wanted to thank Andy and Neil for their outstanding efforts at Colours today, they were magnificent and great ambassadors for the game.
I lost count of the number of games we put on between us but it was in double figures I'm sure. The last was best fun when me and Neil saw off four Nieuport 17's attacking a balloon, we got simultaneous kills and although they dragged him down I managed to drop the last pair and avenge his loss. Pics will come when I get home next week and I know Neil got some too.
All in all a grand day out.

    Default Game one Colours:

Here's a few pics of the action from the first game, more will follow if I can put up with the single frame loading we now seem to be restricted to.

Here's the table set up and ready for action - we split it in two

Simple scenario - bounce the two seater who is too preoccupied to see you coming and see if you can get him down before he runs back over the trenches:

Neil tutors Thomas & his dad James in the dark arts of WGF

Think it was Brenda ? that got the kill, ably assisted by Mark

By this time I was on the other end of the table with Dan, "Biggles" & Jerry leaving Neil with Mark, Brenda(?), Dave and another comrade who then moved on to something more exotic involving a Gotha !

Same as Game 1 but with the sides swapped round - Jerry arrived on scene as a Hun escort just in time to see my Alb C.III bite the dust, caught between two fires but Dan had the final word and got the kill.

Fortunately they had been softened up a bit - Dan went down first - and 'Biggles' retired hurt after picking up a wound and fire in the same burst - his machine succumbed to fire before it could get home. My first two of the day

I quickly grabbed some scoff and whilst I did Ajay took on a chap who had been patiently waiting and asking questions about how the game worked. Ajay's luck with the Blue Maus was.... all bad !

Next up was a game with Roger & Tim - the first time Tim took damage Roger started laughing - I don't think he stopped throughout the games we played, even when it was his turn in the barrel !

Neil was having a break and watched this game - exhorting me on to victory "we must get one recon home !"
I duly gave the Nieuport's the slip, pumped a burst into Tim and ran for home

Tim is set afire as he reverses to get after me & Roger nearly wets himself laughing

I was lucky, Jerry had some good moves and was probably the highest scoring punter on the day.

Thanks Steve. Think it was possibly the busiest show I've been at - at times we had as many viewing as playing, Neil & Andy did sterling work.

We switched out to a Balloon Busting mission - three chaps stepped up to take a run at it against flak & AAMG the two more fellas appeared and suddenly we had a couple of Huns to oppose them ! Neil & Ajay took care of this one as I was quickly involved with other punters who then played in the next game, only got a few pics but the action was hot and before long the balloon was flaming !

The final game was another opposed Balloon Busting effort - me and Neil providing the opposition to four Tommi pilots in N.17's, a dad and his son, and a couple of lads with X-wing experience "so we should be able to handle this..."
    Challenged accepted

Me and Neil scored synchronised kills "I have you now...."

I didn't get a pic but Neil strayed between the surviving pair and they splashed him so I had to avenge him didn't I ?
Three or four phases and it was all over...

And so was the show - it was half four, most tables had packed up and gone and now it was our turn.
Tired but happy we parted company and returned to base.

A huge thankyou to Ajay & Neil for their efforts on the day and a big thankyou to all the players who made the day so much fun, and a shout out for Andrew (BeneathALeadMt) who came past to say hello.

Looks brilliant Dave, wish I'd felt better and had stayed to play a game. Managed to get a WoG virgin to play with my regular opponent at club yesterday and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and want to play more (I got my tailplane handed to me by some amazingly well flown camels). Next week will be my first game with my new balloon.

Thanks for all your effort promoting WoG (Dave,Neil and Andrew)

The centre block lifts out and you can store the chits inside that. It's quite nifty. I will hopefully get it to you at Warfare
