Thread: Clipper's Journey North and Back

Default Clipper's Journey North and Back

Cheers all! Just got the elves tasked to unloading the trailer, suitcases and camera . . . a seasonal trip to the far north of Idaho . . .

    Ah, the cool mountains!

    Local libations . . .

A bit of time with the Northern Elves whilst the grandkids napped . . .

Then to clear out Dad's shop, lots of treasures there!

    Toys of a different nature . . . one of 10 brought home . . .

Then how the West was Won . . .

Box of rare pistols as well . . .

    Lathe and power tools . . .

Boxes of books and more planes . . . too hot to go through at 115 degrees F.

End game, off to return the trailer whilst the elves do some serious space creating in the shop and library . . . good to be home, but lots of memories re-awoken . . .

I remember drooling over that Spitfire picture in the mall art gallery from the late '70s through the '80s

    Never did get it.

Your eyes are ok, one is a very rare 1864 vintage Connecticut Arms Bulldog derringer .44 cal rim fire, the other one, did I ever mention my dad built guns? A replica boot fired under the table gun, handy if you get caught cheating whilst gambling gun.

I too was smitten by this print in the 70's but also did not acquire it due to its very high price, thankfully my step mom wanted to impress my dad for his birthday many years ago . . . all things come to him who lives long enough . . .

    Thumbs up

Your journey David looks as Epic as that of the Hobbit, Bilbo. Got some great treasures but no ring which is probably a good thing!

Sitting here drooling over your haul Clipper.

A friend of mine has the Spit print & I've always admired it.
As for the guns - I have a couple of replicas...but not the space nor money to do justice to more than that.

    Cheers for sharing.

A bittersweet experience going through your Dad's gear. My father is in his eighties and as fast as the years go I can see myself doing the same thing all too soon. He's got rooms full of completed planes and cupboards full of kits. Just the thought of the day when it will be my job to sort those out .... words can't do justice ....

But enough of the melancholy stuff.

What a wonderful legacy your father has left you. The only thing that I saw that I knew was the hardback Patrick Bishop Battle of Britain in the book case

Sorely tempted, Paul, but I don't have any walls left to put it on these days.
