    Default Series 3 Reprint Unboxing

Finally got the pic and edits. Let's see what was to be had:
First, the extras for ordering the full sets:

As usual, there were two single-seaters, one from each of the Entente & Central Powers:

Size: 60.4 KB

And for the Allies, towards the latter part of the war, the near-ubiquitous RAF R. E. 8:

And for the Austria-Hungary fans, the UFAG C-I:

Size: 52.9 KB

But the Nieuports came with four pilots for three aircraft-interesting twist there:

And most of the pilots/aircrew had different cards for phases in their careers. For example, Baracca:

And Nungesser. Note that his aircraft, like in the original Nexus release, had the two-gun option:

Size: 61.4 KB

But with a two pilot option for one plane, Thaw & Lufbery get one pilot card each:

But of course, the Germans have their own:

    Featuring Frommhertz,:

    Gruber,:
    Name: 11.Gruber and Cards.jpg
Views: 287
Size: 70.5 KB

And if we have Albatros D-IIIs, we *must* have von Richthofen:

Size: 65.5 KB

    And the Austro-Hungarians have a nice two-seater:

Size: 63.9 KB

But of course, since the two-seater crews don't attract as much public attention as do single-seater pilots, and add to that the fact that it's Austria-Hungary rather than Germany, many of the UFAG crews are unknown. That gives Ares other options, and they handled it well:

    And one last one:

As far as the Royal Aircraft Factory products:
    Name: 17.Unboxed RE 8s.jpg
Views: 283
Size: 54.8 KB

And indeed, one of them has a Davis gun:

Size: 73.3 KB

    Or perhaps an extra machinegun:

Size: 80.3 KB

But yes, sometimes the two-seater aircrew also reached ace status through their mad battle skilz:

That's it. Hope you have enjoyed this edition of "What's in the box this time?"

Got all three D III's a week or so back...not real happy with the decal work on Gruber yellow in the wing edges and tail just do not look right. May have to touch em up a bit. But then the decal work across the board seems to have degraded. They are correct and straight, but do not cover the wing edges or tail edges anymore.

Received my planes today. No Allies but all the others and they look great. Good to get extras for the ones I have.

    Thumbs up

Thanks Sam for taking the trouble to post all those images!

On my Richthofen DIII, I have some white specks on the fuselage. One of them I scraped with my fingernail and it came off. Others don't seem to respond to that. My question is, would these white specs be paint, absence of paint, or something else stuck to the model? I don't want to damage the finish by scraping the fuselage surface too hard, so I haven't done anything too invasive as yet.
