i'm pretty sure ares fully intends to release more balloons at some point.
there is a section in the rulebook that tells you how to use them.

That's what I've heard too. But it may be years which is why I paid more than MSRP. But even at what I paid I could easily make a handy profit if I didn't want them so much.

They do, but they can't tell us when.

I sold off my spares, while retaining a few for personal use.
In the meantime, alternative lightweight resin balloons are still available from Red Eagle Miniatures (ex-Skytrex) if you simply HAVE to have them NOW, and Keith does balloon bases at Aerodrome Accessories.

Like Tim says there is always a "something " on the horizon , but like a rainbow you never get close to the end product.

I just looked again and he's sold 5 at $140.00 USD each. I'm kind of both gland and sad at the same time. If he has them and can sell them, then good for him. But for the hobby and game I'm disappointed. If these are selling at these rates then it is likely that they would be very popular and draw people to the game.

I agree. I have been waiting for the reprint of these or some kind of variant. IMHO I think they should have reprinted the balloons before rolling out the Staakens.

For me at least, the Staaken was why I got into this game. So I'm okay. But I still paid double retail for my balloons.
