Simon (Maverick) and I managed to play a quick sortie over Malta during his visit.
Scamble, Scramble came the call and soon 3 Spits and 3 Hurri's were airborne.
The Luftwaffe were back and in strength!
Red flight break right, break right. The 3 Spitfires banked right to take on the ME109 cover.
Green flight break left, break left. The 3 Hurricanes banked left to take on the Heinkel bombers.
The Spitfires blasted past the ME109's, taking damage, causing some and hitting the bombers too.
1 bomber trailed smoke as the Spitfires streaked past but taking more damage from the bomber formation.
Both sets of fighters had looped over and now went head to head!
2 badly damaged Spitfires hurtled into the ground. The Hurricanes closed in slowly to slowly.
1 bomber down but 1 Hurricane too as the last Spitfire and 2 hurricanes tried in vain to stop the bombers hitting T'Qali airfield.
(Camera ran out of battery...just aswell for the bombers bombed the airfield, NAAFI and barracks!)
Only 1 Hurricane survived the onslaught as the remaing 2 bombers (with damage) limped home followed by the flight of ME109's!
Cheers Simon (Maverick) for an exciting game.
Note: T'Qali airfield was the most bombed airfield during WW2, I think it still holds that 'honour'. Now a small air museum it is well worth the visit should you ever get to Malta.
