Default SAML S.2 Burigotto / Poppi

I've been searching for information about this aircraft / unit / crew from the Crossfire booster pack. No luck so far.

    Anyone else have anything?

Sorry, Rodney I came up with zero also.

The SAML S2 was an Italian-built copy of the Aviatik B.I (SAML: Societā Aeronautica Meccanica Lombardia). Nothing comes up re the crew; but then, the plane was a recon/bomber, so it's unlikely they did anything notable.

If it is the same person it appears that Tente Attilio Poppi became Generale di Brigata Aerea Attilio Poppi in WW2 https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=184249 but that is the only mention of him I can find and there is no history.
Your best bet is to ask Andrea (angiollilo) via PM with a link to this thread as he is the designer and probably researched this pair himself particularly as they are Italian airmen.

Caporale Giovanni Burigotto is with 118a Squadriglia from thee foundation in September 1917 to the end of the war. It is in action since October 25th. On December 8 Burigotto, with Tenente Attilio Poppi as an observer, directs artillery fire and has a dramatic fight with three enemy fighters until the escort chases away them. The unit accomplishes 52 missions in 1917 and 173 in 1918: observation, artillery spotting, bombing, strafing of the temporary bridges on the Piave river built by Austrian to cross it on the Battle of Piave (late June 1918), ammo drops to supply our troops.
Not very famous crew nor plane, but symbolic of several men and units that did their meaningful duty day after day.

Thank you, Andrea, this is exactly the info I was looking for. I love learning about the names on these little cards.

Btw I spent 6 hrs running Wings for International Tabletop Day. I taught at least 7 brand new players & everyone had a great time.

Thank you, Andrea and Barry! I could easily run longer. I do love this game, and will try to play at any opportunity.

Actually, last weekend, on April 22, I was also running Wings at a very small wargame event. I was only supposed to demo for 4 hrs, but ended up staying and playing for 7.5 hrs!
