Thread: Zvezda kits

  1. #1

    Default Zvezda kits

Has anyone here ever built a zvezda kit? i hear that they have a good selection of 1/144, 1/200, and 1/100 scale aircraft. i have never personally built any, but i have built some of their 15mm tanks and they got together quite easily. i'm thinking of getting a 1/200 scale JU-52 soon and i wanted to ask if anyone has had experience with their aircraft and maybe some things to look out for on their planes.

The only thing I know to "look out for" is that the Ju88 is 1/200 scale, but the decals in its box are clearly marked 1/144 and are too big for the plane.

The kits have a good reputation, as far as I know, and some great painted models have appeared in various Painting threads.

Personally I have Ju88s, Blenheim IVs and Ju52s, all in 1/200, but have not yet built any.
I laugh in the face of danger - then I hide until it goes away!

I have a number of their kits. Zvezda models are 1/144 for single engine planes and 1/200 for twin/3 engine planes. The 1/100 (15mm) are tanks. Right now all their WWII stuff is British/German and Russian. I hope they would come out with some French stuff to expand their game which would include planes. NWS is a good place to get Zvezda models at a good price.

I have a flight of four Zvesda JU88's and they went together very easily and give a good result.
As mentioned above the supplied decals are 1:144 so you will have to source some 1:200 from some where. I can't remember where I got mine but they are available. Try here. http://www.miscmini.com/project-status.html

I have 2 sets of MISCMINI 1/200 Ju88 decals and they are good. Have used his decals on a few planes. The tail markings for the Claude's were tedious but that is because of the scale and not his decals.

Thanks for all the info fellas! It helps newer people like me get into building my own aircraft for WoG.

Same here (along with about 200 other 1/200 planes that "I'll get round to one day").

The other good thing about Zvezda is that they are very cheap compared to resins or Ares models.
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!

So true about the price. I must have around 200 1/144 F-Toys planes to build to go along with the 150 I already have. Always something to do.

Yeah you got that right! A majority of their Tanks and aircraft cost a little under $5.00!

i decided to pitch the idea of getting the JU-52 and im now gonna get the 1/144 Po-2 biplane (mainly to go with my tanks). from a few videos i have watched, the Po-2 is a very simple model to build, but can be fiddly a bit.

The Po 2 wasn't to bad to build. Remember their planes are in different scales. The Ju52 is 1/200 and the PO 2 is 1/144.

i do believe that there is no painting thread for the Po-2, so i'll probably make one when the kit arrives. unless i'm wrong and there is a Po-2 painting thread already.

I built 2 JU 88s and used 1:144 decals as well. They went together without a problem and came out looking nice.
