What to see on Malta?

Knowing our hobby and forum profile, my kind question is: What to see on Malta, how to get there and ... any piece of advise is welcome.
We are going there with family and friends, so besides common sites I expect you chaps now where to find the best military history places of interest and can offer some valuable hints.

I was just in Malta for three weeks - loved it! Beautiful place, the local people are very friendly, lots of history and scenery to check out.

One thing I recommend if you are staying for any length of time: Heritage Malta is a gov't run organization that operates about 27 or 28 historic sites - museums, ruins, etc. On their web site you can buy a pass for something like 50 Euro that gives you a single pass into each of these sites. When I went with my best friend we each got a pass, and visited about 22-23 of the sites over three weeks. Each site is about 8-10 Euro on average to enter, so we saved a fair bit of money.

From a WOG point of view, I recommend visiting the Malta National War Museum at the tip of the old walled city of Valletta. Some interesting displays and history, including one of the three Glouster Gladiators that defended the islands in the 1940 Siege of Malta.
