Thread: 1/720" Scale Zeppelins!

  1. #1

    Default 1/720" Scale Zeppelins!

Just received these awesome minis! About 9" long, wonderfully injection molded from Mark 1 models!

    Two versions to date . . .

    Same kit, different artwork

    Nice color instructions

    Decals and clean molding

    Interesting size . . . great option if space is a problem : )

Can anyone ever have enough Zeppelins?

Planning on some forced perspective when the zeppelin is far away?

Looks very nice, Clipper. Now I have to go off to see what else they may have.

I have seen other offerings my Mark 1 and the look like really good kits. Thanks for the photos and info. They make a number of 1/144 kits. Mostly WWII stuff from what I see.

Annoying -- it appears no one makes 1/700-scale WW1 acft. ....

Picked one of these up in Prague today. Very nice they are too.

There are some that come close visually.

I reduced a couple types to 1:600 scale to see if there was any interest (to go along with the Tumblin' Dice planes). So far the answer is "no".

If you made a selection of BE2, FE2, Strutter comic etc, the ones actually used to combat Zeppelin raids, the market would be limited, but still there. A half dozen of assorted types in a cage would work.

Excellent idea! (Wouldn't expect anything less from you Zoe, thanks!) If you do this I would be in for 2 sets Daryl! As my 4 year old grandson says: "who's with me?"

I'd obviously be interested in some 1/720 sets. Even though I have no idea how I'm going to get the Zeps too. A cage containing an FK8, FE2b, Strutter Comic, BE2e, Pup, Camel, F2b, and SE5a would be ideal.

Another possibility is to make a cage of gothas and giants in 1/720 too. Giv, Gv, R.iv, R.vi, if demand for the interceptor pack was sufficient.

Don't worry about the Zeppelins, I know a guy, you may need to assemble them . . . Some of the parts are VERY tiny : )

Alas, of that set I've only got a BE2e and Camel done (others have done decent models of the others), so this would have to be considered a long-term project.

Hmmm . . . I will have to get the nano elves to look into it then, they are so small . . . any other of our 3D people interested? I will make some inquires, but we will need to gather our numbers, who would be in? If it is a small group the nano elves may need to start mixing some resin . . .

A cage with a pair of each would be a good start... You also do an F2b. Morane L's were also used early on. So that's 4.

BE2s were the main Zeppelin killers. BE2c's though, alas. A Curtiss H12 and a Felixstowe F2 got one each, as did Camels and Pups. The first kill was by a Morane L though.

The elves just printing off Strutters, Camels, Felixstowes, Gotha IVs, DRIs, and a few Staakens : ) all very tiny! Will have to wait to tomorrow to continue the tiny tale . . .
