Thread: Salute 2017 is a go!

Default Salute 2017 is a go!

    Hi peeps,

I've received confirmation that we have a table at Salute next year. The date is Saturday 22nd April at Excel London.

As I've mentioned previously I am tied up in my club's game, so someone else will need to run with this, and I'll provide any support/aircraft/scenery necessary.

So a quick show of hands of those potentially interested?

I might be available Steve - depends a bit on whether my club is putting on a game this time (if so, I'll be committed to that I suspect)

I'll put my hand up Steve although its early days and there is a chance I may be hor de combat right then. I shall keep my eye open and be there if I can. Cheers, Mike (Devon)

Thanks Brian/Mike. I'll make a go/no go decision early 2017. Would be a pity to tell them we don't want a table after all, as it could count against us if we want one in future years.

I'm still OK for this; much as I would love to do Prague, I don't have a valid passport at the moment.
    WGF or WGS?

John, I'm still waiting for the tickets for Salute to come through. As I am in foreign parts, do you want to take up the organisational baton for this one?

Think someone may need to have words with the organisers.
According to the website and downloadable PDF of the games at the show we are down as,
    I quote
"Wings of Glory Aerodrome UK, Science Fiction, GL05"
    and
"Wings of Glory Aerodrome UK, GL05, Wings of Glory Fight for the Sky, Science Fiction, 1/144th Aerial dogfighting in WWI and WWII"

    Hi Guys,
Because Gunners is off to Prague, I've agreed to be the on the day organiser.

from previous posts, I see Tony (Jabba), Tim (Helmut), Dave (Flash), and Mike (Mikeemagnus) are all possibles for helping out, plus Trev (Brambo).
There are currently 3 wristbands up for grabs, If you guys can confirm you are coming, and what sort of times you are likely to turn up, I can make some decisions.

If anyone has a scenario they desperately want to put on, please let me know.

    Happy Landings Chaps

I'm slated to work that weekend

Still trying to get out of it, but I have been helped frequently lately to attend shows, and I'm not sure whether I can swing this one as well.

    I'll keep you updated.

Will definitely be coming, times? when do you need me from-til. Can bring my planes, bit of a mix, all WGF and trench mat if required. As for scenario no preferences, would like to be able to nose round the show at some point during the day.

Hi Tony, wristband for you then!
Brambo is coming down with me so that's another one....

    Times.
I am aiming to get there 8-8:30 depending on traffic, and we have to be in and set up before 9:45, so somewhere around 8:30-9 if you can.
I'll PM you with my contact details.
I have a fair bit of stuff to play with for early middle and late WGF, plus assorted BoB, the Whirlwinds, Mossies, or some '42 western desert for WGS.
Later WGF with big guns (A decks) seems to be the thing at shows, so Camels, Se5as, Biffs, Dr1s, DVs and DVIIs. I have a couple of Gothas, or if the RFC/RAF is feeling suicidal, a Staaken.

Finally, I have clearance to attend!

Can be there bright and early to set up; in my reenactor visit we were able to drive into the hall, unload, and then drive out to the car park - any idea whether we can still do this, otherwise it's a long drag in with the goodies?

Ok we have a full compliment of free wristband holders, Myself, Brambo, Jabba and Flying Helmut.
My apologies to the rest of you but four was all we could get.
As per post 20, any thoughts on games?
Definitely WGF to begin, then either more WGF or a WGS game.
If WGS, one plane per player, 109s escorting Ju87s, Spits and Hurris defending perhaps?
    your thoughts much appreciated.

If WGS I have half a dozen of Clipper's barrage balloons if you want them. I can leave them with my club for you to pick up.

Well, as it's the anniversary of Bloody April it would be rude not to do a couple of so themed scenarios in the morning wouldn't it ?
Then as BoB is the hot new thing we could push that out in the afternoon - hopefully there might be a trader flogging the stuff (if he has any left that is !)

    Tim,
I'm kind of assuming you can supply pretty much everything for Bloody April, but what about BoB?
I can bring a stack of planes for that, save you having to carry so much around.

As an after thought, If you want some Fe2bs and Be2s to kill in the morning, I have a few of those as well.

    Hi John

Actually, I have fewer planes for Bloody April than for Battle of Britain!

    2 Sopwith 1/half Strutters
    3 RE8s
    5 DH2s
    6 Nieuport 17s
    6 SPAD VIIs

    5 Albatros D.IIIs
    3 Albatros D.IIs
    5 Halberstadt D.IIIs

    20 Bf109s
    12 Bf110s
    6 Stukas
    11 He111s

    13 Hurricane Mk.Is
    5 Spitfire Mk.Is
    7 Spitfire Mk.IIs

If my 'Aerodrome Accessories' order ever arrives, I will have lots more Battle of Britain planes available.

Your BE2s and FE2s will be most welcome - I doubt mine will be ready in time.
Of course, I shan't be bringing the whole of "Luftflotte Helmut" with me! Just enough to go around.

See you there! Also I'm bringing a friend & his seven year-old son, both of whom are fanatical X-Wing fans, so we'll probably swing by your demo table.
