Thread: Ares WoG Mats - splicing NoMan's Land & City together

Default Ares WoG Mats - splicing NoMan's Land & City together

Went looking for the "new" mats (I have the old WoW ones).
Could not find the Countryside mat in the states from a retailer I trusted or at a reasonable price.

Ended up getting the NoMan's mat and City Mat - trimmed and spice them to fit my 56"x35" gaming table.

Doesn't look too bad - good example of how the colors line up - not perfect but passable from my perspective.

looks nice. Do you keep it setup that way. I often put the mats and games away when not in use.

All I can say is I have to agree with all the others. Great

Personally I have never been entirely happy with the mats. That no mans land is just too off colour to blend in well with the other mats, and even if you use two or three no mans land mats to get the right colour match then there is still those ruler straight joins that do not look good. I do like what you have done for the table idea though.

They are still a lot better than a green cloth base though. I know Zoe and others have had different ones over the years, I think I have seen a Hotz trenches mat, and also one really good photo real countryside one printed on a blanket. Then there is this lot ...

    Thanks everyone.
Yeah the color match could be better.
As for the table I lucked into this one. Spouse let me repurpose
a table when did some house remodeling. Had my carpenter remove 4" of leg and build
up new sides of corresponding height.
There 3 removable leaves that make up a top.
The top keeps that cats out of my wargame counters and allows me to
keep game set up on the lower surface but also play single
    session games on top.

Looks like a nice table to me! I have the No Man's mat and the color mismatch is slightly annoying if I focus on it, but when playing it quickly disappears from my mind as I focus intently on my tasks at hand.

Great job, hope you get many fun games on it.

I've seen some very expensive ones do exactly what you did. Well done. I love that you can keep it set up with a topper.
