Thread: WWII Aircraft Identification quiz

    Default WWII Aircraft Identification quiz

I found this fun little quiz while poking around the internet on my lunch break. I got 35 of 49. Not bad for an amateur although I did have a few lucky guesses. Enjoy

Saw that a few weeks ago I think I missed 1 of them. For most folks in here they would get all correct.

To my shame I must admit to only 39 of 49.

I don't remember exactly what I got... Low thirties I think. It was more difficult than I thought it would be with many I'd never heard of before.

48 out of 49. Got tripped up by the Mitsubishi that looks like a Boeing Peashooter.....

That is a good quiz. Some of those planes are quite obscure.

    Yeah same for me.

Yeah that was one I missed!

Only 40/49 slipped up on a few of the US planes I never heard

43/49, but, as Bob said, I had several lucky shots
So who will be the first on who will hit all 49?

    23 is a Boeing P-26 not an A5M Claude.

49 out of 49, if you count the dodgy 23.

    42 out of 49.

...and I had to guess 2-3 times and was lucky right.

I got 48 out of 49. Question 48 was a black and white picture of a model and couldn't tell much about it. I did use a few hints as well.

48 out of 49 for me; can't remember what I got wrong, but it was a pretty poor picture.

There are some pretty obscure aircraft in the quiz. I found I was often going 'well I know it's not A or C and probably not D so it must be B.'

40 for me, and I have to go with the above quote.
Sometimes it was the aircraft markings that I went with, although they purposely put a few captured planes in the mix to mess with that. And I was too tired to think one through, and hit the wrong answer for it.

But, my knowledge is obviously skewed to main countries, and not good at all on the remote allies. Even the common Italian ones I went with markings.

Oh, and the picture of the Fulmar was a nasty close-up. At least, for me.

The quiz said i had a 45/48. on one of them i had stupidly mistaken the DO 17 for a JU-88, i blame the angle of the picture!

Don't feel too bad Max, I did exactly the same.
