AAR - Flashes take on Billy Barkers Italian Debut

This is a solo game based on Carl's multi-player game WGF IF08 - Billy Barker's Italian Debut.
Barker's Camel bounces a formation of three Albatros D.III from above and behind and is diving down to short range on the middle Albatros. The object of the game is to down at least one Albatros and get away.
To facilitate the bounce in this in the game I had the Albatrii flying straight on their first card but the second two were driven by the AI selection for an attack from their six...

Here's the start positions:


Barker gets in a decent close range shot on the all red lead aircraft as he dives onto his tail. +1 for the diving shot


Anticipating a turn he then peels left for a crack at the left hand aircraft (but his luck is not so good)..


before cutting back hard right for the leader that has unexpectedly immelled - if I didn't shoot peg to peg I'd have had him !


Holding the turn Barker overlaps with the red Alb as it immels again !


Swooping past he exchanges shots with another Alb as it roars in but no damage done to either side


After a turn of turning they get pointed in the right direction once more and again bullets fly, Barker takes a solid hit but scores well himself


And after another turn of turning Barker finally out turns his prey - the damage is enough to finish him


As the red Alb spins out Barkers gets a good hit on one its colleagues though takes some damage himself


He Immels and catches up to the stricken aircraft dealing it more heavy damage


The Alb pilot recovers & Immels but his wound stops him from firing - Barkers opens up but his guns jam, he gives his opponent a cheery wave as they pass and calls it a day.


The Red Albatros: SD/FT 0 kills


The other players:

Barker RTB / 1 kill, 6 damage
Hun #2 RTB / WIA 0 kills, 10 damage
Hun #3 RTB 0 kills, 0 damage

As usual I used my D8 AI charts, altitude rules and some OTT optional rules, shooting peg to peg.
Another good little game from Carl's pen - but if you decide to use B manoeuvre decks for the AH D.III's you will have to use two mats as the wingmen probably won't make the turns without leaving the table otherwise !

Now going to give those decks a serious reshuffle.

Relatively quick to play solo, the Albs were constantly turning & immelling so it was hard to get a bead on them after the initial bounce but it worked out well in the end.
