    Cool Permission to Come Aboard...

    Hey Gang,

I'm excited to be here. I bought a copy of the Wings of War card game several years ago (before it became WoG) and it sat in my collection of games for a long while.

Then, I got into Star Trek: Attack Wing and heard that WoW was similar in play. So, I pulled out my WoW game and opened it up like a kid on Christmas morning. IT WAS AWESOME!!!

That week, I went out and bought the last 2 biplanes that my local game store had on clearance because the game just wasn't moving in his store... nobody was playing it around here, either. I brought them home and played a few rounds with a friend. I must say that it took a bit longer to kill him in WoW than Star Trek because we really just kept flying around in circles around each other, but it was still cool.

I was contemplating getting into the Axis and Allies miniatures aerial combat game, but, now I am about to buy my first WW2 set, Battle for Britain, as soon as it comes out (the starter set has been sold out for quite some time on Miniatures Market and CoolStuff.com). WoG seems to be so much more fast paced and exciting and I'm sick of rolling friggin dice all the friggin time!

Also, I'm a member of a local gym that caters to veterans and I've been chatting with the owner about starting a game night there. He loves the idea of having this and other war games for the guys to get into.

Anyway, I hope to maybe meet a few local gamers and and I look forward to "buzzing the tower" with my new game!

OH... BY THE WAY, i'M IN THE BROWNSTOWN/WOODHAVEN AREA, IN CASE THERE ARE ANY OTHER PILOTS NEARBY.

Welcome to the Aerodrome, Jeff, from here near Norwich in the United Kingdom.

If you have any questions about the game, do not be afraid to ask. People here are very friendly and helpful. The Files section contains much useful material and there is also an Aerodrome Store on this site, which sells aircraft and accessories at very competitive prices. Just click on the link at the top of the page.

You must have an eye on this Ace, Jeff. Helmut is famous from his "NO". "No Sails", "No Dice", he slowly eliminates the best fun factors from the games he plays. I fear we may even hear "No Planes" one day . Then the world will end.

Jokes apart, here we are with Helmut!

On behalf of the Squadrons based here over the Pond welcome to the Drome Jeff.
You will soon get used to these Europeans and their quaint sense of humour.
Both Tim and Andy are two of the nicest chaps you could wish for, in spite of Tim's strange ideas about ships from the 19th century.
Enjoy your time on the Drome.

FIRST OF ALL... Thanks for rolling out the welcome wagon. I have never received greetings anyone from across the pond or even Poland or Australia, for that matter. Very cool.

SECOND... maybe someone here can answer a question for me concerning the WW2 Starter Set. We have been wanting to start a WoG WW2 game group here but have had trouble getting our hands on the Starter Set or Rules & Accessories. They're even sold out online at Miniature Market and Cool Stuff Inc and have been for a while. We can buy planes all day long, but we need more. I did find one Rules set on Amazon but the jackass selling it wants $200! I'm pre-ordering Battle of Britain, however. But just wondering what the deal is with the Starter Set.

The starter set is a great starting point for a group like yours. Not only you get game pieces and all other stuff ready to play out of the box, but the pricing is super fine as well. Moreover, I suggest you buy at least 2-3 starters for a group. As a veteran I must say you WILL BADLY need more than 1 set of damage chits for your multiplayer games. I always use 2 sets mixed and it's enough for a 6 players game.

While your addicton continous, with BoB starter set planes you will be able to supply other fronts with the same planes using just a small (well, sometimes bigger ) touch ups. Imagine: Med theatre: repainted Me 109E and desert Hurries over desert...I know, I am dragging you to the dark side, but I see the force is strong with this one...

Welcome Jeff! WoW/G is a great game. You may be pleasantly surprised at what you can find online - and in the Aerodrome store too.
