Thread: Which Gotha G.V

  1. #1

    Default Which Gotha G.V

If you could choose only one, which one would you choose? The Ascoff or the Von Korff?

    What are your thoughts?

Also, what is supposed to come in the box? Ate the scenarios included or are they supposed to be download only?

I would choose the light grey daylight scheme Gotha (Aschoff), with no official night fighting rules daylight raids are my preferred option for bomber employment.

The scenarios are in the Giants sets but they are not in the Gotha/Caproni boxes.

Check out the files section here Ken - you'll find the bomber scenarios as well as 'Flight of the Giants' which had some scenarios in too. I prefer the Aschoff model also.

Do you like the Aschoff for the same reasons? I like the particular paint scheme. As for Flight of the Giants, oddly enough I found that at the FFG site. Go figure. I wish it wasn't that dark blue. I tend to keep a copy on my table which the PDF is nice for, please Ares PDFs would be so great!!!!! But I also make a booklet of scenarios that I threw in kit with the planes. That was I have it when I need. I don't mind passing the booklet around as I can always print another. We play at a restaurant twice a month so accidents will happen.

[Edit: Doh! You know copy and paste seems to work too. I don't need to print out the scenarios in dark blue after all. Foolish me.]

Pretty much the same reasons Ken though I have both - and it's not so odd that FFG have the FotG rules as they marketed WoW for Nexus in the day.

I thought it was interesting, odd, that after all this time it nice to know it is still on-line.

I missed Clipper's Aschoff. My bad as I got busy and completely forgot. Of the Gotha bombers Aschoff appears to be the most difficult to find.

Does anyone know what air plane cards are included in Flight of the Giants?

Hi Ken, you can see all of the cards here, but only one side of them.

If you were to flip them all over, you would see:

A German Friedrichstaffen G.III (on the reverse side of the Taramelli Ca.3)
A yellow-colored Ca.4 from 182 Squadron (on the reverse side of the Zeppelin Staaken)
Von Korff's Purple Gotha G.V (on the reverse of the Belgian captured Friedrichstaffen G.III)
A Handley Page 0/400 (on the reverse of the Felixstowe F.2A)
Scholler's Blue Zeppelin Staaken (on the reverse of the Ca.4)
Buttini's white Ca.3 (on the reverse of the German Friedrichstaffen)
Aschoff's Gotha G.V (on the reverse of the CEP 115 Ca.3)
Another Handly Page 0/400 (on the reverse of the Curtiss H.16)

Those look nice. I wonder if they came in a card stock. If so I wonder if the cards are still available somewhere?

They are printed on a sort of linen-finish type card stock. They are not as thick as the regular size airplane cards but more like a heavy paper.
As a matter of fact I have some up on eBay right now along with the decks.

"Flight of the Giants" is still available from Ludibay/Ludikbazaar in France.

French rulebook, but at Eu7 you can't really go wrong!

That's where I got mine last year.
Even with $$$ postage it was still a good deal.

I guess all I'm really interested in are the Plane/Pilot cards:
I think with the Rules & Accessories plus the KS Giants I should have plenty of the tokens, bombs/target cards and such.
