It is great to highlight Planes involved on post war eastern fronts.
    Well done.

Zoe, really??? I have a hard time remembering or telling one from another of the planes I do own. Well other than the Tri-Fokker.

    Seriously though, very nice.

    Super fun, Zoe .
Thanks for posting the collection. It is the era I tend to play WGF the most in recent time.

Would that be useful? I still have 100 of my backlog to go, plus the many more I've produced over the years.
There would have to be several pictures though, 40-50 per frame is about the maximum.

Then maybe another, including ones I didn't produce myself, F-toys and repaints from others... Not many of those though.

Hmmm... Now I think I understand your wish for obscure and rare plane cards, Zoe.

Do you have a list of pilots and units for those planes? I could start nibbling away at them.

For the Austrian, Turkish, Polish, Italian - yes. For many of the Russian Civil War ones, usually not. The soviet Grigorovich M9 is from the Volga squadron. The imperial one from the Black Sea fleet, but it also served in the same markings with the Soviets after capture. Pilots unknown.

A typical dogfight - a RAF crewed DH9 in Wrangel's markings was accosted by a Strutter with red stars on, and a Nieuport of some kind, 17 or 24bis,markings either imperial or overpainted with red stars or disks. See "Gone to Russia to fight". Camels from the Slavono-British squadron and Wrangel's 6th Aviatryad were flown by anyone available, and had the same markings. Either may have been found escorting old Hansa Brandenburg C1s, Voisin 3s or Farman F.30s from the allied Don Army. The 6th Av ones eventually fled to Georgia, where they fought the Soviets through 1920, the RAF having evacuated with Wrangel at the end of 1919, leaving behind RE8s, SE5s and DH9s that the Soviets used against the Poles in 1920.

At one stage, 4 French squadrons operating in the Ukraine were up against the Austrians, but neutral towards the Soviets, some of Wrangel's nieuports were against the Soviets, but neutral or friendly to the Austrians, the Ukrainians were against both Austrians and Soviets (and incidentally, Poles, who were otherwise neutral). The French departed with the Treaty of Brest Litovsk in mid 1918, Wrangel stopped being supported by the Austrians, but got British help instead, Ukraine got a lot of Austrian gear left behind in late 1918, and financial support from Bavaria after that.

The advantage of dogfights in 1919-1920 is that all sides used whatever they could get, Nieuport 11s mixed it with Fokker D.VIIs. Albatros C.Is and Bristol F2b's... Morane Parasols vs Spad VIIs, LVG C.Vs vs Albatros D.IIIs... Before they departed, the Austrians who had occupied much of the Russian industry were producing Andrades and other Russian aircraft for their own use too.

You have a great collection there, Zoe, including many rare aircraft! You could have made that photograph into a quiz.
