Default AIM models and their pegs

I'm curious, does anyone avoid the Armaments in Miniature line of models because of the resin peg and steel screw in the belly of the 1/200 scale AIM models? Is it a put-off or distraction?

I tend to use magnetized stands so they're convenient for me. If I have a project that doesn't need the peg, I remove it in the cleaning process.

    Your thoughts? Kevin

I also use magnetic stands and I glue a ball bearing to the screw. When playing a game I put a ring magnet on the stand's magnet so I can have altitude with attitude!

I use AA ball+bearing system with success. The ball is superglued to the sanded screw. AIM planes are superlight, so even 2 engine bombers dive, bank and climb with ease.

I use a LITKO flight peg that fits in the hole very nicely. Haven't tried the ball bearing on any AIM models yet.

I can't say I like the pegs, so I remove it entirely, and then bore out a hole that will fit an AA ball bearing. I also drill a small hole through it to take a pin to hold while I am painting the plane. Here's a WIP to illustrate

    Thumbs up

Like others I just glue a magnet or ball to the metal screw.
